My character is filthy almost constantly.
Is there a way to clean up other than Long Resting?

In Dragon age origins it was blood on your face after a bloody battle. They seem to have gotten their wire's crossed here. Someone please tell them the dirty face thing just does not work. (bad idea)

You can use create water on your party & the dirt will wash off... Alternatevly there are some mods that do this. Like Basket full of equipment.

Blood is linked to your hp total, so you just have to heal yourself

Blood is also affected by melee attacks and especially kills. If a character attacks someone with melee weapons or kills in melee range - there'll be blood all over.

Honestly DAO did it better - the blood only appeared from melee combat; spell-casting and ranged attacks didn't result in that.

As for the dirt: I really hope they add a graphics option for that. I know they tried to be immersive there but they actually broke that immersion - PC can walk from the gates of Druid's Grove to Inner Sanctuary after full rest and in the next dialogue inside there will already be dust and dirt on the clothes. That's just not immersive in the slightest.

hmm should just be a wash off option by water

Yep just tried it, Create Water does appear to wash off dirt. But that almost makes it even more ridiculous - Because the only way to get rid of dirt outside of a long rest is to waste a 1st level spell. That's terrible.

Also the going to camp thing to clear it is a bigger deal than a lot of people make it out to be. Camping for the night has consequences. It can trigger special scenes and other things you may not want to deal with yet (like Bite Night). It's not like you can 'just go camp' without any drama, the story moves along a little bit every time you decide to camp.

The healing/bruised/bloodied thing I don't have an issue with because you're gonna end up healing all the time anyway.

The fact is, it's a bad mechanic. I know they like to try new stuff just in case but I hope they realise this stuff needs to go or at least give us the option to turn the darn thing off.

Squeaky clean face, fires bow, face like a chimney sweep. I mean, wtf.

Yeh i think it should be a gradual thing, the longer you fight the more blood stained and dirty you get. And washing it off would be a good idea to implement. Having to put up with it every conversation whilst it's kinda cool for awhile it get's annoying over time.

I'm sure they'll tinker with it over time. It is ea afterall, new stuff isn't set in stone on initial release.

I like the new interface and hud tho.

Have you tried throwing water on yourself?

Harpy fight down by the river bank doesn't seem to make anyone any dirtier.

Prestidigitation needs added.

the dirty face thing needs a turn on or off button, as a gameplay option

I'm pretty sure walking through a river also cleans you up, but since I don't even notice if my character is dirty since I'm looking at them from way up above I can't say for sure.

There's a river you can walk through right outside the Owlbear cave. It's the same one that kills Astarion dead if he crosses it.

I made myself a filthy mess and went to the river outside the Owlbear cave. Walking around in the river definitely does not wash off the dirt.

Create water seems to work - but that's even more more stupid because then you've just wasted a 1st level spell.

It's overdoing realism with the muck on faces. And it seems to increase as you travel, not just as you fight, which is a bit odd. And while you have it on your party's faces on the crashing ship, there's none of it on the faces of the two key combatants in the helm area. At least be consistent.
This title cracks me up every time.
