I just went and checked and I don't have the single-bun hairstyle, either.
I wasn't aware that tieflings (females at least) have so few hair options. I am honestly shocked.

So yeah going to definitely say mod.

Nope, since it's EA and gonna be changed a bunch I didn't think there was much of a point since mods would likely get broken a lot. Plus I usually like to get at least one playthrough of a game before modding, get that vanilla experience.
Also sometimes I am Too Dumb (TM) to mod lmao
I did try this mod when I couldn't get the hair naturally anymore, but it didn't seem to work, and there are no instructions to modding BG3 that I can find, seems a little more involved than Bethesda modding...
There's a mod manager that is freestanding... so for 99% of the mods, it'd be a case of dumping the .PAK files into the mod folder and booting up the manager and it'll edit the notepad for you. I tried the manual way without a modding tool... but after the 3rd mod (even if it's for visuals) it got way too annoying to edit/read mode/save each time.
Yeah I've spent the last 3 hours trying to get the mods to work, and I just end up with a non-viable game. None of the methods seem to be newbie-friendly, I'm clearly missing SOME step or other, but there are no step-by-step-as-if-you're-five-years-old instructions anywhere that I can find so. No fancy hair for me I guess.
It's just so weird that I was able to get the hair unmodded in patch 3 but then in patch 4 the game went "no".
I personally use manual modding for my game. I could never really get the blasted mod managers (candor or vortex) to work well. My advise to people modding manually. If something isn't working. Install only one mod. make sure your modsettings.lsx is lined up perfectly. Make sure it's not missing any break points (node, /node, /children, etc). Make sure to set modsettings.lsx to read only. When BG3 crashes most of time this gets reset to default version. Read only prevents this from happening.
Mod order also seems to be an issue. Some mods need to be loaded lower in order than others. Loading one mod at time to test, also helps with this. Though most mod authors are also pretty good about saying "low my as low as possible".
Player Profiles folder and where your mod folder should be (assuming default installation):

CustomCharacterEnhancer

and I use BG3modmanager ... trying to figure out where to find it, it's on Githhub
I've tried using Vortex, Candor, LaughingLeader's, and doing it manually. I can't get anything to work, no matter how many workarounds or fixes I try and follow. I've just given up on it until either Larian releases modding support or the modders find a more effective way of getting it done.
Still really annoying that they removed a hairstyle - I was not modded on patch 3, that hairstyle was available for tieflings natively :/
I mean, if you're modding, sure, but the game itself runs fine as vanilla, which is kind of what I'm talking about in this thread to begin with. I had a hairstyle in Patch 3 that was removed come Patch 4 - it wasn't added in through modding, it was native to the vanilla game. Until now.
Also with further poking around this bun hairstyle, as far as I can tell, was unique to the Tieflings because unlike the human version of that bun, it didn't have bangs (likely to avoid clipping with the horns or something).
So the question is why is Larian removing content that was working perfectly fine and not impacting the game? Character customisation is already kind of sad, we don't need more options taken away.
I have a back view up there in the first post, I have a couple of the character in the front but that seemed less important to post for this, I didn't have a lot of pictures of my character though.

Man, if it wasn't for the fact I had those screenshots I would've thought I was crazy and just imagined the hairstyle lmao
Patch3fixer mod isn't in my mod folder. Haven't used that since patch 3.
