Gale Murdered Scratch..
Yes.. this is probably a bug.

Gale was one shotted by a lv 3 goblin warlock.. to his instant lv 4 death.
His corpse, then appeared in the camp. Surrounded by necrotic fog.

Into which poor scratch wandered.. and died.

Rest in Peace Scratch. May your death help others in the future.

Where is that warlock I'll give hin a beating what spell did he use?

Gale told you, that he is dangerous - even when he's dead. He has that necrotig fog every time when he's dead - be careful. Think, that's not a bug.
Had that accident with scratch too - have to load a save.

This happened to me as well. Gale got pushed over a cliff into the abyss, falling to his death fighting goblins. He then spawned dead in my camp dead and killed Scratch. I was partially mortified, but found it hilarious at the same time. Just because of the circumstances that led me there.

I find it admirably humorous that your primary concern is for Scratch. I share your sentiment. :-)

When Gale pops out of the portal when you first meet, I didn't like him or his story. So naturally as a Githyanki, I killed him on the spot.

He was never on my team yet I got the same after death dialog which is a bug imo, because we never officially met and the cut scene and dialog are like we were together.

On top of that, his necrotic stench stayed at the portal. Every time I used that portal I immediately started taking damage. I was surprised at how long it stayed there.

It isn't a bug as such, it's bad game design.
Gale spawns necro phage and all in middle of the camp.. there needs to be an area set off to one side of the camp a sort of quarantine zone.. for stupid design flaws like this.
Gale killed my Owlbear.. in exactly the same way.
Then in my latest game he killed Shadowheart.. and Asterion. Because he got upset at Wyll. And it seems if you're killed in camp in this way.. you cannot get resurrected.

I tried but he's an invalid target.

Wyll died early in that game, he attacked me because Barth ran into my fog after the end of the goblin fight.

The fog you cannot get rid of because there's no mechanic added to exit spell effects.
Otherwise you need to recast fog somewhere else..

I really want to know this as well. Pet death can be a major trigger for folks and I really want to know the level of severity- perma-death seems a little dark for a pet.... even in a video game with lots of other violent deaths. Pet death just hits different.
