Ok, cool! I haven't played since 3.0 (not even 3.5), so this is gratifying to hear.
It just feels a little cheap if the whole span of whatever Larian has planned never goes over 10th level. Hopefully there's something past that even if it's a DLC, level editor, or some player modding tools. You are missing out on so much by capping the upper half of the levels.
That's what I am hoping.
I'm cool with the main campaign being limited if there is something else available.
I did not mind the level 10 cap as it would have allowed space for DLC story expansion for higher levels. Even BG1 only ever went up to level 8-10 on release depending on your class.
Level 6-7 on release actually. You get 64K xp and that become 89K with the first DLC.
I'd like a lv 11 cap over a lv 10 as level 11 gives some classes a nice boost like fighters getting their third attack.
key "Level1","300" (to reach next level)
key "Level2","600"
key "Level3","1800"
key "Level4","3800"
key "Level5","5100"
key "Level6","9000"
key "Level7","11000"
key "Level8","14000"
key "Level9","16000"
Which is a silly argument when talking about a D&D cRPG.
Not comparable, BG3/DIv3 is a triple AAA budget game that made more money than BG1 in the first day of a beta release.
'BG2' was released less than two years after BG1. Throne of Bhall less than 3 and that went up to lvl 31-40. Same exact engine and so similar that mods have combined both games seamlessly.
If anyone is expecting a BG2 in a similar timeframe, think again. BG3 could very well be in early access the same amount of time it took to develop BG2.
A level 10 cap only makes any sense if expansions DLC raise it to 20. Otherwise, Larian would be foolish to cap it at 10-11 if they aren't planning any big expansions ala Div 2.
I am hoping for DLC's and Dungeon releases using this platform.
Anyways as 5E goes, there are tiers of play which are defined in the Dungeon Master's Guide (or DMG for short)
Levels 1-4: Local Heroes
Levels 5-10: Heroes of the Realm
Levels 11-16: Masters of the Realm
Levels 17-20: Masters of the World.
Anything past level 10 is basically on the level of getting world wide fame. So the selection of level 10 could be also be based on this.
