I always defeat Hag in teahouse before entering into her lair.
After defeating hag, if you wear whispering mask, of course you get uncanny sight & Hag is already down so no need to worry about losing mind.
**Removing mask from pawns is unnecessary because masks should not work at all now. As Hag is no longer there in game & since you are wearing one & nothing happens.
Only three of Hag's Pawns are wearing masks except Halfling. Wonder how she removed mask while others could not.
Yet Halfling's true name is not shown & she appears as 'Mask of Regret'.
Only Mask of Vengeance becomes hostile if you try to talk with her. And even Halfling joins her. LOL
Well I tried to save them by several different paths but it did not work.
Name of the mask is 'Whispering mask' through which you hear whispers of Hag & this is how she controls & commands those who wear it.
Every time she gives a command, pawns trigger wisdom check. After success in check they do not attack player & skip turn. Which means even if they are wearing mask, they still have some self-consciousness left.
Now the hag is down so they are free as no command or control left.
Scenario 2. If you defeat hag (where Mayrina is caged) after she summons her pawns, battle is finished & pawns no longer attack you. Halfling still thanks you but other two pawns disappear except Tiefling. LOL.
Early access game. It is one part of game, I am still waiting to be fixed after 3rd patch.
i really think it is something that they didn't think people would try and was overlooked. i think you should send Larian feedback and that way they will make it so you can do that because i know they have been working on trying to create situations where people dont use killing and they get rewarded for it so definitely give Larian feedback about what you tried. :)
Anyway, the process felt like a tutorial for what to do when you come across a masked individual. Then I enter the refuge and find many people with this particular... issue.
And then the disappointment that, although you put in a lot of effort to get the 'enemies' to the point where you can touch them, removing the mask doesn't accomplish anything. Larian could have done better with that... Especially since I'm not from the USA and probably instinctively tend not to react to every trouble with a weapon.
