140 gb? Really?
Does this game really need 149 gb? That's a lot of space for a game, especially one that's from a top down preservative. I want to get this game but the size requirements is stopping me.

it is a massive open world game with a lot of different elements that change npcs and the world, i do understand though, ive been keeping a very close eye on my laptops free space since getting BG3

I didn't think disk space was still an issue in 2021. you can get a usb 1TB for less than 30$ on amazon ..

Yes, quality takes up space. Download it.

I have a 2tb hdd laptop but I'm trying to conserve space, 140gb is kind of ridiculous even for a open world game. It's just weird because microsoft flight simulator 2020 is only 90gb and that game needs to load the entire world along with 4k textures. I keep reading that it's 87 gb or 140gb, which one is it? I'm just conserving space for future games I plan to get but aren't out yet that require a lot of space. I have 700gb available

There are a lot of quality games that don't even take up half the space, d2os is only 30gb, all the mass effect games combined are only around 50 to 60 gb. Microsoft flight simulator which has the biggest open world ever (according to critics, Microsoft, and a lot of others) is only 90gb.

Yes, really. Thousands of lines of dialogue and the world isn't procedurally generated so it's going to take up a lot of space.

Why do I keep reading that it's 80gb? Is this true? I will most likely get it if it's 80 gb because I really like high fantasy.

Ok, I'll wait for the patch than check again, 87 gb is far more reasonable than 150 gb

The current download (if I remember correctly) is between 70-80gbs. They don't want to hem themselves in to a lower number, to be safe. Also, since you can have multiple profiles (which means tons of saves on different characters), they want to err on the side of caution regarding size. At least, this is how I read it on the Steam EA page.

Isn't it developed by larian? I thought it wasn't developed by bioware

EA = early access, and even if it was EA the publisher that wouldn't automatically mean bioware.
Wasn't the original bioware though?

The game needs to be whatever size they deem they need. lol. If you don't like it, have the time to download it, or the money upgrade your storage, ALL of that sucks. But so be it. Do or don't.

EA is referring to Early Access, but yes, the first BG games were developed in part by Bioware.
