Is your character a male? (Male + Male). Shar cares not for sexual preference for she is the disposition of darkness. Cloak of love. Her love cares not for their gender or race, She cares only how diligent her diligent are.
SOLOing the first bit, as I didn't want any competition (Like a smart Female Drow would do) and pushed Lae'zel off the ship (made sure to snag all her gear first, mind). I'm sure she fell into that blood river... somewhere. Anyway, as a Priestess/Cleric of Shar, was easy enough to go imp tossing and use some tanks to make a naughty explosion lane after I got 3/4 the way to the transponder.
The devil commander didn't disappoint either. Threw the last tank on him and the mindflayer, and since he uses a mighty fine flame sword as a catalyst to my scheme... lite them all up beautifully before I touched the transponder. Fun times.
After the shipscapade, I found that you *can* actually bypass Gale from popping up if you walk just a bit through the grass instead of close to the glyph, so just kinda left him be like that. I also let Shadowheart keep beating on the door while making my way through the Dank Crypt.
Now that I think about it, it would have been hilarious if I opened that locked door from the inside and upon opening it, seeing her shocked face and telling her to: "Quit beating on my bloody door, you idiot!" =3
So after picking up Wyll, and having him approve of my showing the Tiefling how his sword stance was poor, and convincing the trio of Tieflings to stay, we did a long rest, and he said that he wouldn't mind sharing some of the glory with me and after I complemented him as well, he seemed pleased with himself, and the current situation.
After the first Long Rest we are both level 2, and working hard. Wyll doesn't seem to like me giving dead adventurer's a Sharian prayer after their death's (the ones just past the bridge before the Blighted Village), but a Cleric of Shar must commend the souls of the fallen to the darkness... (Wyll Disapproved of that prayer).
We interacted with Scratch, and gave him the option to follow my scent if his friend doesn't awaken. (I was really tempted to pick the option that what he needs is a grave, but i'm sure Wyll would have frowned at that, and I already know that pisses the dog off too, so it was a no-go.
We spoke to the Tiefling parents, and are now off to save the Tiefling child Arabella, and see why Kagha wants to see me, then off to the Blighted Village pending the results of that encounter with Kagha. Momma needs some new boots!
More to come in the next exciting installment!
I'm a bit curious in how that all played out. Please let me know, as I am quite interested in how your plays turned out.
Just asking but, Wyll, isn't that guy who deal and made a pact with a succubus to gain powers
Yes, Its funny how sometimes when I type your name I type 'Wyll' instead. Regardless of that, Yes. I didn't want competition. Obviously. Other plays have suggested when I was not interested in him he goes for the new blood (AKA Gith). Even SH taunts him about his 'Player talk'.
To answer your question. Yes. I am a dominating person, and I feel no problem imposing my will upon others for their own good. I have experienced many things on many fields in life, to give me enough knowledge to aid those whom would aid me in whatever endeavor we need to accomplish.
Its cannon, as you will see in my next installment.
Wyll... err, Wes. You are gravely mistaken. (If you had followed my advice and bought the game...) "I am Drow, Seldarine Drow... You should be grateful, if I were to go Lolth Drow, your Human Warlock would have been dead long ago, for he does not imbue Lolth's will.
Wait for it...
Correct. A cambion succubus.
No, it was not coincidence. It was intentional, as I enjoy playing Drow, both the Seldarine and Lolth-Sworn versions. I wanted to see how he would interact and react to an evil-esque persona, like him.
Well, you said it yourself 'even when truthfully he wants it all for himself'. I chose the cordial option in that dialogue, but I have chosen a more in-character option before and he gets defensive saying that he has never heard my name spoken of before.
Glory hogs tend to get ostracized because they cannot play well with others and have trouble sharing. Selfishness never helps anyone but themselves, and it typically makes for a very lonely life. Plus, sharing truly is caring. Sharing of oneself, their time, and wealth. Also, just to be clear, 'wealth' in this sense, is not solely affixed to monetary means, as there are many things that people consider wealth.
'Loony' in what sense? She is a Cleric of Shar, her duty is to spread Shar's word, her teachings, her faith and all that other. So being 'loony' performing last rites as a Sharian would is normal for her, as she asked Aradin if he wanted her to offer a prayer. After she offered the prayer, he told her to not waste her breath as their too dead to hear me.
To my Sharian Cleric he is nothing of the such, merely a surfacer. He says he is the 'Blade of Frontiers' and that is fine for him as we are still getting to know eachother. Plus, I have only heard him called 'Blade' from one person, as even Zevlor calls him Wyll. We will see how the 'Blade' measures up when we find Spike and he gives me, as he spoke "the full measure of the blade" as in an accounting of whom he truly is.
The 'new boots' I mentioned are the Spidersilk boots that can be found by going down the water well in the Blighted Village, among other things of note.
No worries, that's the fun part of it.
I originally did make it to get your attention, mostly for comedic sake and the idea to make a spoiler thread about my Seldarine Drow Sharian Cleric's experience in a duo with Wyll, since I mostly play SOLO, unless I am testing out party mechanics. I took out the 'Wyll @ Jester Wes' because I felt naming you as Wyll was unkind, and that the moderators might not let it stand.
I retorted that: "If it weren't for me this grove would be overrun with goblins by now". Mino spoke up and wanted to speak with Jeorna, they conferred as she was apparently surprised that the First Druid would want to "speak with one of them". We were allowed passage, as First Druid 'Kagha' wanted to speak to me. Of course, Jeorna warned me about causing trouble, and that if I did every animal in the grove would 'tear me apart'.
- Now, Wyll kinda looked a little nervous at all the hostility that my heritage was creating, but I wasn't worried, as I have my faith in Shar and my own strength to call upon. Not taking six steps past those two, I was greeted by a human male named 'Volo', dressed as a fool, literally. I decided to test Jeorna's resolve and quickly separated Volo's head from his body. Wyll's eye bulged out of its socket at my blatant killing of Volo and exclaimed "What are you doing!?" I smirked at him wistfully. Jeorna fussed at me for doing the deed, but unsurprisingly enough, a mere 130 gold was enough to 'make it ok'. I guess murder on holy ground is still ok for the right price.
Wyll looked at me, then her, then back to me in amazement. The bear that was aside him was very bored or tired it seems and went straight to sleep, so I sifted through Volo's belongings quickly to find a very nice ring! I shut my eyes for a moment and called to my Deity Shar to aid me, to divine what this ring was. After a few moments its name and use came into my mind. "The Whispering Promise", and apparently it bestows an enchantment called: Blessed Mercy. ((When the wearer heals a creature, it also receives a d4 bonus to attack rolls and saving throws)). Such a nice item, and a blessing by Shar for finding it! Wyll just shook his head and said "I hope that whatever this ring does was worth the trouble." I just smirked at him playfully, and stuck out my tongue teasingly.
- A few moments later, I decided to take a little detour down to a little beach area instead of seeing Kagha directly. We found a bear doing some fishing, and interestingly enough he procured quite the catch with a pile of half sliced fish on display from swatting them out of the water. Instantly, as soon as my feet touched the warm white sand, I received a shock, and was influenced to turn my head to the right and lay my eyes on a curious'y large rock. I stepped over to it, looked at it a moment and saw it was a little loose from its settling. Squatting down, I slightly moved the stone aside and found another interesting bauble. It was an amulet, engraved with a small waterfall, just touching it imparted a feeling of calm serenity. I stood up and did the same as before divining its name and purpose. Its name was: 'The Amulet of Silvanus', and it granted the spell 'Lesser Restoration'. Another wonderful gift from Shar, I thought.
- I skipped over to Wyll whom was taking in the scenery in a daydream gaze. Bending over at the waist, I looking at him with a smile. "Oh Wylllly Wyll... I got something for you!" He looked at me with a bewildered gaze, studying me for a moment. I then presented the amulet to him, holding it up by each side for him to see. "Another one?" he said. I smirked. "Don't look Mother Shar's gift horse in the mouth!" I retorted sassingly. "Besides, its not for me, its for you." I said. "Oh... Really?" Wyll replied, obviously surprised. "Indeed. The spell it confers is one already known to me. Its best if you wear it." Wyll raised an eyebrow suspiciously and asked: "What does it do?" "Lesser Restoration." I said. "Basically you can remove one disease or condition afflicting a creature or person. Its an incredibly useful amulet, especially if we both can do it!" I exclaimed. Wyll smiled. "Can't argue with that logic. Sounds useful indeed." He quickly adorned the amulet and felt the knowledge being transferred into his mind. We made our way back up to the Grove and then up and around past a stone doorway. We could hear singing coming from our right and chose to investigate...
- As we moved up the dirt path we could hear bits and pieces of singing. There was a lovely Tiefling female sitting with two squirrels flanking her sides but sitting before her. I downed a Potion of Animal Speaking, and addressed them. They apparently didn't like her singing, saying it was 'awful' and that their ears would bleed. I ended up persuading them to move on, and then spoke to the Tiefling with Wyll right behind me.
"What's that song your playing?" I said. "More like a butchering." she irritatingly retorted. She mentioned how she can't seem to get the song right and that: "it's great when it goes well, but when your stuck and it just keeps getting worse..." I told her: "That's the creative process for you, equal measure of pain and extacy." I then asked her if I could help her complete her song. Wyll looked at me strangely, like he couldn't believe his ears. I turned to him and said: "What? I just want to help!" I think me killing Volo was still fresh in his mind and now me wanting to help someone, and even being a Drow, shocked him.
I turned back to the Tiefling, she said that it couldn't hurt and that she has an extra lute for me to use. I smiled to her and asked: "First thing's first, what's the song about?" The Tiefling's eyes went down, immediately letting me know it was something painful. After a few moments, she mentioned how it was for her teacher Lihala, whom had died recently, and how she loved to dance under the stars, regardless of being good at it. Pausing a moment, I asked: "What would you say to her if she were here now?" The Tiefling look at me thoughtfully for a few moments. She then mentioned that she would tell her that: "she will be ok, that its ok, and thank you for everything."
I looked at her thoughtfully and said: "Then that's what your song needs to say." She looked down again sadly, and said it was hard, because her words tend to crumble like ash... Then as I watched her eyes, I could see an epiphany bright as day hit her. "Wait!" she exclaimed. "That's perfect!" She sang that part over again that she was missing before with the added bit to us. She immediately rose up with her lute... and began to sing "The Weeping Dawn" to us, the song she was creating as we both listened intently. After she finished I clapped and she teared up a bit and sat back down. "Sorry!" she cried.
"It's a beautiful song, worthy of a few tears." I replied. "Thanks." she said, wiping away her own tears. She then told us how Lihala died, that she was playing her lute, they didn't hear the Gnolls approach, and that there was so much blood that she could still smell it. I felt sorry for her, losing a dear friend, but then said: "Now you have a fitting tribute to her." She replied: "Lihala always said that's what eulogy's were for, they were for the living as well as the dead." I nodded quietly, and Wyll smiled, pleasantly surprised at this outcome. After telling us that this song will be her tribute to Lihala, saying it still needs work. She thanked me and continued practicing her new song. We quietly left her to her musing and headed back along the path, ...hearing more music? This time from the other side. We proceeded down the path cautiously, as "there was something familiar about the tones in this singing" I thought to myself...
Tune in for the next installment!
Thanks! Please do!
"Just a little closer..." he said. Irritated, but understanding of the boy's plight, I looked around for any sign of the adversary, as they were seemingly well hidden. I spied a bit of a feathered wing high up on the rise just in front of us. Wyll was watching my movements, and our eyes met. I motioned with two fingers, looking in the direction so he would understand my meaning. He turned his gaze to meet mine again and nodded in understanding. Smiling, I took out my hand crossbows, aimed and fired. "Yahhh! We heard from above as the singing stopped. Suddenly, we were surrounded by four harpies. Putting Wyll on the high ground in cover was a good idea. I took their focus, and began firing at will, ducking behind a rock and reloading as needed. Wyll decided on a good time, and read a sleep scroll targeting three out of four of the harpies due to the spell's constraints. Three of them went down in a slumber, so we focused on the single one and took it out. Wyll summoned his Imp familiar to help with the other three, sending it to 'wake' one of them as bait with an attack. We quickly downed each one using the same methodology.
After the fight the little Tiefling child was in a crouched position holding his head and shaking. I told him to be calm and that he was safe now. After looking around a bit to see if I was telling the truth, he began to run off, stopping suddenly, and turning his head to face us. "You should meet Mol. I'm sure he'll be grateful that you helped me. Also, look for a boy named Doni, as he began whispering... "tell him you want to see 'The Dragons Lair'". After that, he scampered off. Wyll looked at me and said: "Curious name for a place, can't be too true to its name, right?" I looked at him with a sly smile. "Let's find out."
- We exited the Inner Grove and looked for a Tiefling child named 'Doni', ended up finding him along the path going back up to the Grove proper. Wyll and I approached him, I smiled and asked Doni if I could see "The Dragon's Lair". He grunted at me. Hardly the response I was expecting... but then he just sort of looked past me as if I was boring or some other. He gripped a lever and a passageway appeared, we thanked him but and he grunted again. I looked at Wyll, and he just shrugged his shoulders. "I guess it can't be helped. Let's see whats down there." I said, and we trekked onward.
The place was a rocky outcrop, not much to the eye, rock everywhere, but that was to be expected. We did find a stuffed bear and some sell-able junk. I liked the stuffed bear, so I took it as a prize or a reward... at the time I was not sure. Wyll spied my taking of the stuffed bear and said: "Really?" I looked at him, searching his gaze, then smiled. "Why not. Its fluffy and cute, and I want it." Wyll again just shook his head, resigning himself to my wants. "Whatever." He said. We exited the area through a small hold, too small to return through the same way. We decided to confront Kagha, and in the process intervene with the disposition of the Tiefling child, Arabella...
Look forward to the next installment!
