Where are the Good Companions?
Without a doubt, this game has the evil ones covered, for the sort of people who like that kind of thing. So where are the companions for people who still think of Minsc, Aerie, and Keldorn as old friends?

Not in the game yet. Larian only put in the neutral and evil aligned party members for the early access, because they wanted to get data and feedback for evil playthroughs.

Misc has been confirmed, others will come later

There have been many threads on this.
I see several "good" potential companions. My guesses thus far, Halsin, Karlach, Volo, and the Tiefling atop the bridge at the Gith patrol. These, at least, I have seen hooks to invite them into the party. Gale and Wyll seem to be good. So there's six. Gale and Karlach are the only two that I'd be eager to invite. Maybe Bridge Tiefling, though we don't know much about her.
I'm not alone in hoping Minthara is an option, though she's obviously evil. It could be interesting having an Absolute worshipper in the party.

Gale seem to be lawful neutral. Wyll is definetly chaotic neutral.

We already have some good aligned characters. Wyll is chaotic good and Gale is good.

And not everyone needs to be extra special and unique.

You also need an Ajantis, or Edér to put the extra special snowflake characters in a proper frame of reference.

It bothers me that so far every companion in BG3 has some uber fantastical storyline, dark secrets (that are painfully obvious) or is a vampire or alien.

I definitely want to see more options, as well as the ability to design my own party members. Call 'em mercs or whatever.

As of right now, the only good aligned companions in the game are Wyll(Chaotic Good) and Gale(Neutral Good). Others are planned to come out as well, but Larian wanted to focus more on their evil/morally questionable companions first.

So I think some characters that look evil now, are not 100% evil. And I also think thats the case for two of the early acces companions. Cough Shadowheart, and Lae'zel. I think Shadowheart used to be a Selune priest before she lost her powers. (the cut scene when you find the broken selune statue) And Lae'zel is not an adult Githyanki, she has a chance to change her ways.
Even our over the top gay vampire elf has a chance to become good.

Soooo you're one of those people huh!! 😎 Well I'm more of the, "Mazzy, Valygar, & Jan Jansen" as old friends lol. If you had them in your party as much as me you'd understand lol.

I'd want new companions similar to the talkative Jan, while still having cool & stoic folks like 'Squire' Valygar! Also Mazzy types are like the little engine that could lol, I love characters like that. 🥰 https://youtu.be/BYpgSp-QRpg

The evil ones aren't covered, where's the obvious bad guys out there, the ones I immediately see & want them dead or put in an asylum. The ones I know Wyll would fight & argue nonstop because they don't get along.

Wyll from what I read on this forum is growing a friendly "brother & rival bond" with Astarion! Wyll was also really attracted to Laezel, so she can't be all that evil either. He sees Shadowheart as likely a nice girl who's caught up in a bad situation where she has to be kinda evil to survive all of the bs. 😒

Wyll ISN'T extra special & unique! He's a dumb noble who without the devil lady wouldn't become the famous hero he became! By your view then ALL custom MCs we created will be no different regardless of background.

Because he or she is put in a "fantastical storyline" with a god-like tadpole in their head, which gives uber powers! It's no different then Wyll, unlike Gale or Astarion who actually fit what you're saying 100%.

Also who's to say if Laezel & Shadowheart are average people or not? They might not be what you labeled, do you know why? Well let's see how their "people" treat them, so if it's like utter trash then guess what they're NOT special & unique either! 😉

Wrong.... Gale's the one who's Chaotic Neutral. ;)

Wyll's likely a LN or TN from everything that was spoiled to me thanks to a certain somebody here! coughwarmaidencough 😤 Therefore a CN wouldn't ever do what Wyll has done, the facts of his story is evidence enough!

Besides you would have knew that immediately when he defends a town or leaves your party for not doing the heroic thing! Why would he be CN, just because he was desperate & did one messed up thing with you? Think about it, look up the CN definition & see what's it's truly about. 😈

CN's are mostly monsters, & Wyll's not that.....he's just a flawed human, who wants to do the right thing! I could sense CN's miles away....so he would have set my "alarm" off if giving such vibes. Please rethink your stance lol.

False. - Didn't Larian say there wasn't good aligned companions at the moment, unless I misread? 🤔

Where did they say that? Larian said that they wanted to try an evil path because they didn't have time to do that in DOS2. They didn't say that all characters will be evil. If you side with the goblin raid Wyll will leave your group. He isn't lawful since he has the option to torture some goblins. Someone who is lawful neutral will follow the law even if the law is unjust & evil. They do not care if it is right or wrong as they will just follow the law. This is not the description that goes with Wyll.

Shadowheart is a cleric of Shar... the church where you have to murder a ♥♥♥♥ ton of people to get in. Shar also takes away you memories so that you think she is just a right by brainwashing you. We have not gotten to her main story yet but she will have a dark one.

Astarion was a slave that was physically, mentality, and sexually abused. He is just discovering he new found freedom and I would consider him to be chaotic neutral. He has the chance to be evil or good depending how you take him in his story choices.

Lazel is a child that is starting to learn about the world. The only things she know are the things she was raised to believe from other Githyanki. Due to that she is lawful evil but has a chance to change her alignment after she gets treated like a lesser creature from others of her kind.

I get the feeling that the good alignment will get the shaft somewhat in favor of the more meme-y/ edgey appeal of comical or evil characters. I hope I'm wrong but it currently feels that way.

I have the feeling that we've seen the entirety of the roster.
lefty1117 Jan 29, 2021 @ 7:55am
Just want to add that a couple of the companions could well shift in their attitudes as the game progresses .. they act like impatient ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ early on but I guess that could be understandable when you've got a worm eating your brain.
brokoreus Jan 29, 2021 @ 7:59am
I find the characters we have okay. Even Shadowheart may not be all bad. During evil play through, she shows remorse for killing good people. Perhaps she isn't as evil as you think. 😊

And Gale is good, approving of your good choices, as is Wyll. Sure, they have some bad streaks, but that's what makes them interesting.

Even Astarion and Lae'zel aren't all that bad. Depends on how you play.

Lae'zel is probably the most misunderstood. She is really like a little kid who thinks her mom is the best and can't do any wrong. During the game, however, seems like she is probably going to be doing some fast growing up. 😀

And Astarion just wants to be free ad enjoy life for the first time in 200 years.
