Harpies at the beach.
The harpies are too mobile, hit too hard close up, and from a distance, and have entirely too much CC. If they're going to hit that hard, they shoudln't be having 24 hit points like a plated up high constitution fighter of the same level. if they're going to have that many hit points, then they shouldn't be doing so much ranged damage. if they're doing that much ranged damage and have that many hit points, then they shouldn't be able to literally fly (teleport, basically) anywhere around you hitting anyone they want. If they have ALL that, they shoudn't be able to LURE and just totally shut down half the party and ruin your strategy. By the time you level up enough to be able to handle the fight, the rewards from even bothering aren't worth it.

Starting the fight, losing initiative, and having 4 harpies all focus down your highest AC and hit points party member and kill them immediately is just plain stupid.

Since you get pretty much no rewards other than saving the tiefling kid who is mesmerised I always viewed it as a pretty optional fight, only has to be done if you want the challenge. I also enjoyed the fight exactly for all the reasons you stated above. But I can see how other people wouldn't like it.

There is a hidden cache on the beach behind the rocks they’re on.

No, the harpies are fine, they're not a problem to take down. There's vines to climb to the high ground like, right next to where the fight starts. From there, ranged attacks just work fine.

I THINK Silence works here, if not, it should >.> I immediately thought of just casting silence on myself and shooting at them so they can't lure me

Yeah, but I don't think it held anything that important did it? Maybe I'm forgetting something.

I hate the fight too. Use Silence orbs to counter their dumb ass singing.

I always go into fights like these with the understanding that the enemies will always have an unfair advantage. Use items, big spells and take advantage of pre battle positioning.

I spent my last fight with them (druid run) as a spider arachnoid jump chasing them around the whole fight and driving them down from the high ground. It was awesome and hilarious.

Edit: My first try I used wolf form... that went less well. Though was probably also hilarious.

...Funny how I just mentioned this exact fight a few minutes ago and this thread popped up.

They're not too bad. 24 hit points is about 30% fewer HP than they have from the MM. An unlucky initiative roll will be bad news in most other encounters as well.

I bumbled in my first time and managed to come out with no downed party members (STRanger, Astarion, Shadowhearts, Gale), though I can only imagine what would happen if flight was fully modeled in the game. Melee-only combatants wouldn't even have a chance of touching them.

Right I mean I appreciate all the advice....but...yea....

I'm using my Druid, Shadowheart, Astarion and the gith lady. it's not going well.

I ditched Gale because honestly, I'm FED UP with his constant 42% chance to land his spells for some stupid reason........

85% chance to hit, miss. Miss. miss. Miss.

much less 50%. It's ALWAYS a miss. and they ALWAYS pass their saving throws against any damn thing I do.

I've played and beaten Divinity: original sin 2 many times over, game after game, hardest mode, and it's not anywhere as difficult as this is.

WHY. WHY IS GALE'S HIT CHANCE WITH SPELLS AS A WIZARD SO PATHETIC?

I ditched him for my druid run as well so far. Just didn't seem to need him for anything.

The battle isn't too bad. There are some spells that will give you bonuses to savings throws, those help. Any wisdom based character is pretty much going to be immune to the singing, unless you get really unlucky. Misty step is a nice spell for this, because you can just teleport where you want to go. Moonbeam is as well, since it's a movable spell and will always hit for at least half damage.

Basically move quickly to high ground, and range them to death using either bows or spells. The standard combat here of stand your ground and sacrifice you're lowest AC character won't work here though.

where are there harpies on a beach that are hard to kill? Is this towards the beginning or is this some underdark thing?

There's an offshoot in the Druid Grove that leads to a small isolated beach, its at the bottom of the stairs towards the back of the grove and a path leads to a beach where they technically are...or at least are once you get too close so they spawn, you won't see them until the fight starts.
