I highly doubt the wild magic table will be the same as previous games, but the sheer randomness alone is enough of a reason to play one.
One of my favorite moments in BG1 was when I had Neera, a Wild Magic mage, in my party. I had her cast magic missile, failed that and somehow dropped a cow on a kobold.
A session or two later the same thing happened with a meteor shower, the DM was both frustrated and amazed that I kept blowing up bosses by pure chance.
Would be cool if they implemented all the different effects on the surge table, will try it out
Plus I feel weird using a dragon sorcerer with non draconic races
I spent the entire session making chicken puns via the mind-link we had.
Needless to say it was clucking hell.
