Play Solasta, smaller budget but better mechanics. Maybe in due time this game will get it right by learning from them.

Solasta is a worse game tho o.o

Im not familiar in the slightest with the 5e, but it sounds like Monk class has become extra squishy than usual. Might be more of a challenge than perhaps? Oh well looking foward to Monk Class still, though ngl feeling a little bit disappointed at all the delicious things that have been taken from the Monk.

Monk got min max really weird in 5e. their hit die started from 1d4 which is the same as weakest weapon and crawling up until decent (at lvl 5) and good (at lvl 12 if i'm not mistaken). The best addition in 5e is few subclass of monk which can be pretty cool (sunsoul (hadouken monk), astral self (jojo's stand's monk)) or outright underwhelming (four elements (nicklodeon avatar)). You can google 5etools for more info

So is the Monk class confirmed?
Or do you think they will just skip it?

I think this class is a one-two punch.

Read the store page. You will find your answer there.

A robe is a robe no matter what level the wearer is. There are different kinds of robes like the Robe of Summer, Poisoners Robe, etc. that looks slightly different from each other and the basic robe.

Is that what you mean? Because a robe or any armor is not going to look different just because the character levels up.

Yes, I feel like they changed a lot of stuff in 5e and "threw a baby with the water" in some places. Some stuff just feels watered down compared to its 3.5e predecessors. Not worse by any means, but it's like the example that "balanced isn't always more fun"

I remember unique stuff from back then in NWN games - crazy spells, insanely powerful builds one could attain, epic levels where PC could become practically a demigod and so on. Here in BG3 and 5e - well, it feels like - PC is "an ordinary mortal" and there's nothing wrong with it, the setting just became less of a fantasy - in my humble opinion.

Oh well, enough of the off-topic rant. I think the same stuff happens to other classes anyways.
Yeah that's 5th in a nutshell. Every named major NPC in the game will have better stats and better unatainable powers than the PC's. It's a part I really don't like but don't go and say that on the dndb forums or you'll get clobbered.

This is why I resorted to modding and other methods to revive that old experience, at least partially. For instance, it's cool to play as a Drow Paladin of Eilistraee and have some stats above 20 + get unique powers nobody else has in the game. As an entity with agency I want PC to be unique and also has the edge like it always was in the fantasy I liked before.

If I want a realistic game where nobody cares about PC and random NPC can cause a lot of troubles, where PC is just a noname gray background noise - I turn off my computer and step out the door. This isn't what I personally want to see in a fantasy game :p

No.
The monk's hit dice are d8 and that never changes. Hit dice determine health and healing during short rests. What you are refering to are their martial arts damage dice which start as 1d4 for unarmed and monk weapon attacks and scales up to 1d10 by later levels (though monk weapons will use the default damage dice for the weapon if it is higher like a short sword being a 1d6).
