However, she has no penalty either.
There IS a sacrificial dagger she can use that's not bad

And the Sussur Dagger is damn good too

The reason that Xyanyde doesn't get a dexterity bonus is because a Mace is a SMASHING blunt weapon. It uses STRENGTH. it is not a finesse weapon.

I dropped the sacrificial dagger for the mace :) Good dagger but really, a mace suits a cleric way better.
Your to quick to judge :) Amulet of Misty Step, the best amulet for her in-game right now.
5e removed the "Critical Multiplier" from weapons, all weapons deal 2xDice damage now.
So there is no need for a "Exotic Weapons" like the Khopesh, bastard sword, scythe, and Heavy-Repeating Crossbow which all have the same damage dice as existing weapons, but higher critical multipliers.
However, D&D has a rule called "Reskinning". I'm unsure where in the rulebook it is, but it basically reads that if you can think of a weapon, you can compare it to an existing weapon and use it's damage dice and properties.
A Katana = Longsword dice
A Sai = Dagger dice
A Nunchaku = Club dice
So you can have ANY weapon in 5e, there are just guidelines to help the DM relate it to a normal weapon.
I have a player that uses a 2 handed scythe as a weapon, I made it a greataxe as far as properties go.
Having rapiers as only 1d8 dex weapon is just whatever to say it kindly. i mean what happens if i hate rapiers as player i guess i need a mod just to get that reskin.
Saving graces is that Larian doesn't know what rapiers are.:))
They used Backsword model for rapiers and those are way better! As a weapon in RL and as weapon model in video game.
Clerics built for Str will do better with those weapons. The system as it exists now is fine.
Think of it like this. If you were an assasin/special OP for the Lady of Darkness/Mistress of the Night... which weapon would be more efficient for your missions?
A mace that makes a ton of noise and increases your encumbrance thus making you more detectable and suspicious, or a sharp light dagger that you can pull out and put away at a moment's notice?
Understood, but she is a Trickery domain cleric not a heal bot. You could always make your MC the healbot if that's what you're looking for.
That said, healers really aren't as important in 5e as they were in previous editions, most of the time you can get by just by not dieing and then resting after combat or using a potion (there are tons of them).
But the Life domain is available for clerics if you want to make one now.
