Wait doesnt it fade and die out? as far as i know after some time the bloom will wither
This is an old thread and I assume this was a featured that has since been added, but you don't have to destroy the crystal to get in/out of the gates. You can shoot the statues' eyes with an arrow or cantrip to temporarily disable them. They will shoot 3 radiant missiles in random directions along the bridge and then be deactivated for 1 turn. It's best to do this in turn based mode to help you make sure you don't get hit. You will know they are deactivated when the glowing blue eyes go dark.
Step 2. Have one character go back up the ladder, thru the first door (the one that opens up leading to the ladder down to underdark) and pull the lever on the wall left of that first doorway that opens. This will close that door again (don't worry, we'll re-open it). I think i first found this lever with a successful perception check.
Step 3. Have one of the characters still down by the moonstone ward pull the lever right by the gate. This will open the gate.
Step 4. Have the character that went back up the ladder pull the lever again. This will re-open the door leading to the ladder down to underdark. The gate down there will still be open. The Moonstone ward is still active, the gate is open. Go back down with the other characters.
Step 5. One at a time, sneak thru the gate to the bottom of the stairs outside.
You now have all of your characters out of the open gate, gate is open, Moonstone ward still active and unbroken.
This is easiest to do with the mushroom circle entrance to the underdark hidden in Auntie Ethels house as it starts next to the arcane tower and then leads to the temple.
Also if you have problems with the minotaurs get the quazit shovel. He can turn invisible, go along the side of the cliffs instead of out the door so that stays closed, use enhanced leap so he can leap the chasm. Send him to the minotaurs, activate invisibility again, it will drop as he casts the spell but then make him invisible again. This activates combat, the minotaurs move to where he was last seen, just move him back towards the temple, combat goes out when the minotaurs can't find Shovel but just activate invisiblity again quickly and it'll restart the combat. Rinse repeat until Shovel leads a minotaur to the temple. The minotaurs do heal outside of combat so the statues can't take them out on their own but if you just put the rest of your party on a side cliff you can shoot at the minotaurs at the base of the stairs, start combat, and you can let the statues take care of the rest. Just make sure someone in your party gets the last shot in to get the experience. You can also agro the minotaurs if you're right inside the door but that wasn't consistent and really only killed one minotaur while I wasn't looking so maybe something else set it off.
This works for me, thanks.
But I learned here to have crates with you all the time. Cool.
I didn't want to destroy the protection, so I did nothing with it. Walked out of the window instead.
You can just place the Sussur flower near it or on top of it, and its aura will turn it off
