Have you got Lae'zel as a battlemaster? She can use her fear attack to completely neuter the bullete.

Yes I have it, but wouldn't that just make it burrow away sooner? I want to kill it!

I appears in the same places every time. Split the party so it can't hit all of them. Then you need lots of barrels. Killed it in one shot.

On my third playthrough i knew where he was guaranteed to spawn so i fully rested before hand and melted him with magic missiles and and the gith fear attack, once its gone the under dark is a much safer place

The barrel and huge focus on elemental damage synergy is really turning me off of this game. There were foundations in their games, but it's feeling less and less like D&D. I know I could just not use them, but it feels like the core game (Divinity) was built around them so heavily that it's impossible to not build around them here as well.

i only use barrels once in the very begining in the temple with the liche where 3 of the npcs are chilling by an explosive one

It wasn't so much about you but how much it has taken over as a "thing" in the game rather than people showing how they used class features in a neat way to get through a combat scenario. Sure, you could do past Larian games for the most part without barrels, but they were still built in as a core element.

I just _really_ hope they continue to make this more D&D in feel.

that faction of bandit forgot the name there hideout is a supply of many barrels for people. Not a fan of barrel cheese in the game and the water barrels are useless in the mansion on fire cause the fire seems to be perma there

This fight isn't all that difficult and you certainly don't need barrels to beat it. Not trying to brag but I was able to get through this fight without too much trouble and certainly without a single party member dying.

spread out. Its going to kill someone, so make sure its ONLY ONE of you per round. Then help that one back up. You can literally beat it with 1hp on all 4 people. It usually won't come to this.

halt spell
magic missile spam
light/acid/bless/etc +++ hit chance stuff
etc

this monster was always a very strong, higher level enemy. Its not supposed to be level 4 material. Also, the underdark is supposed to be deadly to the unwary and inexperienced.

I dislike the barrel focus too, but it *IS* possible to kill the bullette without barrels.

In my play through I got it to 2 hp before it ran (1 downed character in the process). I met up with it again later, and it started at half health.

Was able to burst it down the second time. Lae'zal battlemaster helped with action surge and extra dice with both attacks.

I didn't use barrels for either part of the encounter.

I found that I can kill things just normally before I can lug that many barrels down there. (Update) No barels. I did kill it by buffing up Laezel and hitting the bullette with the fear attack. Thanks for the tip Planeforger!
