Barrelmancy does Not make sense
Think that you are a warrior, and holding a huge barrel on your arms, even your upper body cannot be seen because of it. And you would get all the attention because of it normally, but no one around asks you "hey, what are you doing with that?", and you can lift and place lots of it illogically in front of people. No one says, "why the *** you place those barrels all around the place" even if you place a barrel a few inches of the advisary even a dragon :)
I mean I don't even wonder, why we can find barrels of oil around faerun that no one guards it, and why not still US liberated there.
Not that I'm against using of barrel kind of things but, please Larian do that at least in a form that makes sense. At least guards, enemies etc. should stop you and ask "hey whats going on?"

Detonating a barrel is fine if you carry it in your bag of holding and similar items.

Look at Critical Role S2 fight with exploding keg/barrel (chimera fight)

-A barrel of GUNPOWDER was taken from a ship's gundeck

-It was put into a bag of holding

-An emergency plan was made by Veth to detonate it with her exploding crossbow bolt which she made with alchemy and checks

-When the time came, Jester (owner of the bag of holding and the physically strongest one) took the barrel of GUNPOWDER out and threw it at the SEVERELY damaged chimera

Can't recall if it was detonated by the exploding arrow or a simple fireball/firebolt was explosion did NOT KILL SEVERELY HURT chimera

this is fine.

Carrying several 130 kg barrels on your back and arrange them while sneaking is not fine fine

Someone did the math in the other topic with barrelmancy, the math does not add up for DnD 5e carrying capacity

Hazards are fine tho

This whole barrel BS should be removed from the game entirely. This thread alone is reason enough. You'll never find any logic in this crap.

You better believe my party has done this in tabletop. Scorched Earth policy is the best policy.

Heck, my current artificer literally makes grenades from alchemist fire and bat poop

You want to become one with the barrel. Feel the barrel, caress the barrel until it's a living, breathing, vibrating extension of yourself.

yeah nothing like when a gang boss blows up more then half of her crew... and then you just shove her in, on to the fire! AI IQ 0...enemies doing suicide. just cos i used a ladder!? but i guess that's fun for some.:))

Why should barrels be removed from the game? Increasing barrel weight should fix all the problems?

Maybe some dev dropped a zero from the weight and the whole barrel thing is a silly bug?

Why do you want to remove barrels from Barrel's Gate 3 - Ground Hazards?

I dislike DOS:2 surface effects as much as the next person, but barring the crypt fight with that annoying Acid Splash cantrip I've never encountered surface effects in the game (unless I specifically use grease but ♥♥♥♥ fire damage when lightning is more aesthetic)

Sometimes I really wonder what kind of game these people are playing lmao

I'm the next person and I don't hate the ground effects from D:OS2.:dos2skull: That said, I also don't see nearly as many surfaces in game like in Divinity. Most common i might see is some fire given it is either from someone exploding a patch of grease or something was burning.

But I guess people will complain about anything these days if the game isn't to their particular liking

By proportion the barrels look like 50 gallon drums. Just using water as an example at any normal pressure that volume would be about 417 pounds. Divide by 2.2 to get your answer in the rest of the world.

Oil could be a little lighter depending on the type of oil, but taking an average weight/volume still nets 375 lb.

Gun powder would be similar to oil.

I don't understand the guys here talking about ground effects, fire damage, weight of barrels etc.
For me the problem are not these.
The problem is; A barrel cannot be sneaked unless it is invisible. Also when you try to place lots of barrels in front of someone guarding some area, they should arrest / confront you.
Throwing is ok for me if the person has 16+ str; which means you are some kind of "Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson" who already can throw them in real life.
The problem is placing them in front of advisories should be removed from game if the barrel is not invisible.
