The Astarion water problem

Okay so if you havnt caught on by now or havnt seen the gameplay for Astarion then spoilers: cause he is in fact a vampire spawn...with that being said he can not walk though running water. and I get that its a vampire thing i get it, but he keeps ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ my whole plans by running to me trying to get around the water. This has only happened a few times but its enough to get annoying cause i hate having to unchain him and then click on him and the move him. I want to him to just wait for me before darting off towards the baby owl bear and making me pick a fight with the mom. (i know this is ranty and its not really the biggest issues on hand right now, but you cant not agree it gets a tad annoying from time to time.) and before you say just unchain before the encounter, i counter that with i have a poor memory and i never know when to do it plus i can never know the future encouters for the game so he'll just keep on doin it (also also this is a great game so far i just want to know if there is anyone else who feels the same.)

Yeah, I'm seeing some of the drawbacks of being a vampire (like the running water thing), but none of the advantages like mist form, spider climbing, domination, etc.

yeah i thought he would get a built in misty step but i guess its a true vampire thing

my freshest playthrough im all alone as an evil thief with zero companions and GOD is it a bliss!

never partying again.

more fun/less hassles/more interesting fights.

It's really not possible that every player has all their desires fulfilled at every turn. Yes, he burns in water. It hurts him more than you. Do you really want everything to be perfect for how you play anyway? Don't you want characters round you to be flawed? Be complex?

He's a vampire. Killing him isn't evil. It's the right thing to do.

Well i mean that a bit of a moral gray area considering he's a spawn and not a spawn of his own will. also depending how act towards him (I.e an ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥) then he may or may not pull a knife on you. i dont think there a right or wrong depending on your person.

well its lets that i want it perfect and more that the Ai is ingoring all eneimes and places not to go just to regroup with me. but i get it i wouldnt want him to take dmg and im not saying that i dont want him not to have these flawas but again its the AI vs the charecter thats why i want him to stay so i can find the best route. i said nothing about a character thing

Then you're just putting his soul to rest - either way, killing him is the right thing to do.

This is probably why he's so interested in controlling the tadpole as opposed to just getting rid of it like most of the others. He doesn't like being enslaved by the vampire lord who made him and now that he's able to walk in the sun again after so many years, wants to see how much farther he can go.

Yea i want to see how his story goes on, if he becomes more than a vampire or if master get to him. he's like this tragic character that both wants and needs to get in a simple word power

Not certain of this. Hes one of those newfangled twitlight vamps ... not a dracula but an edward/lestat (early books, when he only killed criminals).

No, you didn't say it was a character thing. I did. Because that's how I think about roleplaying games. Maybe thats foolish of me as I'm playing a computer game. So it goes.

Yes, the way toons wander about when they are part of the group is really annoying. Is that your main argument? Because "my memory is poor" is not a real criticism for the game, it's just a problem you will need to work through. Sorry. I realise that memory problems can be debilitating, and I don't mean to be exclusionary. Maybe try putting a post-it on the side of your monitor to help you remember.

I also found out about his burn thing in the owlbears cave and reloaded a couple of times thinking it was a bug until I remembered him saying it was an issue in a previous conversation. Now I'm very careful. Have you fought the harpies? That is a nightmare because of the running water thing. But putting the bite on one of them kinda made up for it in my mind. Very satisfying! So emotionally I find it gives and takes away. This would be easier if he had a few more compensating powers, granted. But still, I enjoy disliking the creep.

Astarion has the most fun reactions in game imo, and he is the funniest of all companions so far.

well im not critzing the game, all i said was its annoying how he ruins my encounters and that i cant remeber to unlink him from the group before the encounter(hence when i said i have a poor memory it not a condition just sucky memory). also yea me and a friend were doing a co-op play and i had Astarion and evrytime we would wal up on the owl bear he would run allllll the way around to the child bear and start a fight before we could even start a dialouge, thats when i also remebered that he said he cant pass though that and i dont dislike him i like all the character so far tho La'zel rubs me the wrong way but im sure ill get over it
