Absolute's Talisman not working?

I'm copy and pasting the effect from Baldur'sGateWikia.

"Stained by blood, and gifted to only the most faithful of True Souls to help preserve their lives.

The wearer of this Item gains:

The Absolute's Mercy:
When the wearer has less than 25% of their hit points left and deals damage, they gain 1d8_norma_dice_icon_weapon_qualities_baldur's_gate_3_wiki_guide 1d8 hit points."

I tried it with Asterion (Thief) without a mark of absolute while he had 1hp (newly revived), and with Lae'zel 9hp/36hp without the mark, and it didn't regain health with either (Lae'zel did because of another effect but not the necklace)

Then I tried with my main Warlock Drow. He has the Mark of the Absolute from that old crone goblin. He had less than 25% health (unless my math is awful, which it is, but worse than I thought.) and used the Eldritch Blast I think it's called, and no health was restored. I tried a dagger move but it missed.

Is it not working like it should, work only with melee, need to have the mark (doesn't say you should but not sure if just having the title means it does).

I looked it up on google and I couldn't find information on it.
