Character Creation Disappointment
So far I'm pretty neutral on the game as a whole. Combat is okay, spell-casting needs work. Sacred flame needs improvement, spell slots is a bit annoying for a video game setting. NPCs are bit annoying though that's because I don't tend to play evil characters.

But my biggest disappointment is character creation. I know the used mocap for the faces but it feels like it limited the facial options, especially for a game based like this. I feel like this game would benefit from a waaaay more detail character creator. For example, change the the eyebrows, lips, cheeks, tail options, more horns not set on the forehead for tieflings and color options for horns. There just too little options to make the character yours. Hopefully they'll add more options after Early Access. I'm not expecting Black Desert level but I'd like to see more than I'd see in Free to Play MMOs.

Its the FIRST month of EA...

There is still a year at least to go on, they have over 150 faces options that they're working on, what there is now is just the first part.

Spell slots ain't going anywhere, its a DnD game, DnD games have spellslots, thats how it works.

Okay, faces aren't my only issue. Also this is just me leaving feedback on what bothers me right now. As for the spell slot thing, yeah it's based on DnD but some things don't translate to well to video games. It can be limiting in video games. I can see it becoming an issue for those who don't play DnD and don't understand spell management.

I'm sure the full release will have a better tutorial on the game's mechanics. However, resource management is just about the most important part of 5E combat, so I don't see spell slots going anywhere, at least in any difficulty above the easiest.

Spell slots are important because casters can become overpowered very easily unless their resource is limited. Especially at level 5, that is why most melee classes get the 2nd attack @ 5th.

Hmm that's true. There definitely needs to be a limit but I think the official DnD one is a bit to little.

Out of all the shortcomings or misteps in EA, I think character creation is one of the things that definitely will get changed, or in this case added to.

I'm sure there must be a technical reason, but if they are going to go the route of premade faces why not include all the npc's faces as well, some of them look better anyways.

and fan boys like you love to use that excuise instead of ADRESSING the issue, its no wounder this game is getting such a bad rap.

Says the guy who's drinking Vitriol Juice every morning before coming on these boards...

Yeah i'm a fan ... so whats your point?...

I've allready said that the game is raw and needs tweaking, and it NEEDS ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ time, but you're like a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ task master pushing the poor slaves around and demanding for immidiate results.

YOU are amongst those that gives These boards (not the game don't worry your pretty little head) bad Rep, with been constantly aggressive to anything that is not of the same opinion as you.

Casters at lower level are like papier-maché, so its normal, once they hit Mid Tier levels and higher, its the Martials classes that are left in the dust and there's ways to recuperate your spell slots later on (class features, magic items etc).

the games character creation isnt even on par with Solasta a game also in EA made by a much much smaller company/group of ppl and such.
Solasta is a solid game, but it dont have squat on bg3 character creation. Bugger off with your hate boner for this game.

As in the issue is they need to learn how to deal with slots and spell management. You don't change a system because some people don't know it lol.

This game is getting some of the most strange comments that I've ever seen.

I seriously and desperately wish that character creation in this great game somehow becomes way better than Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen's character creation actually by some possible official chance very, very soon really.

how does sacred flame need improvement? it's a simple dex save, no damage on a save cantrip. pretty straight forward spell.

Also - I agree with having more flexibility with character creation screen.

Honestly that was just me b*tching on behalf of me and my friends. We've used like 50 times and it's only worked like 6 times.

The Dices giveth and the Dices taketh Away.

In our Avernus campaign the Cleric when she cast Sacred flame, either miss (target saves) or do abyssmal damages (snakes eyes or 2x2's...)

So our inside Joke was that the spell should be named: Sacred LAME

So each time She uses it, she's like " imma cast Sacred Lame", and off course she rolls low( well 40% of the times, the other times its mid to high quite frankly)

Its just how the dice rolls goes.

So when we started BG3 in Coop and she did a Cleric, off course she casted Sacred flame AAAnnnd... snake eyes damage.

So we all laughed hystericaly saying "even here the Sacred Lame, persist!"

and even a game known as Solasta which has way less ppl working for it did a WAY better job with character creation then BG3 did and Solasta is also in EA ... good Excuise way to fan boy it up.

Dude did you really play Solasta, or are you just blindly jerking off at someone else playing it?

There's 4 faces and 6 hairstyles that looks like 2006 models and textures.

SO "better Characters" stop smoking whatever radioactive crack you're smoking...

And you can try all you want Solasta is never gonna be a full game, cause they only have SRD rules license, so not only they can only have ONE of the official Subclasses PER classes, but even 30% of the spells of the classes spell lists WILL NOT BE IN IT.

♥♥♥♥ they din't even get the Milestone goals during their KS campaign to unlock some of the classes.(Sorcerors will NOT be in the game, they'll add it later as a free DLC AFTER the games launch)

WHo's making ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ excuses "fanboi" ?
