Delaying turns?
Is there a reason we cannot delay a character's turn? If I remember correctly, in DoS 2 you could delay turns. This creates more interesting tactics in the midst of combat.

Delaying isn't an option in 5e, but readying is. That was an intentional design decision from the 5e crew to make your timing more critical in-play, and not drag things out.

Reactions are in BG3, so there may be work done on the readying system in future.

I was looking for this, im allways calling it delay but i mean this!
Hope they are working on this for the future, hate to not be able to ready a shot for when the enemy comes in to view ^^

Yes there is a reason. This isn't DOS2 and uses a completely different rule set. It uses 5e d&d, and in 5e you cannot delay your turn. The closest thing that is possible is to 'hold an action' which is not implemented into the game at least at this time.

Solasta has implemented the Hold or Ready action. you can use your reaction to attack, melee, ranged or a cantrip of your choice on the first target that moves into range. It is really fantastic. Hope BG3 follows this path as well.

I understand why it is not implemented in BG3 but I don't understand why it is not implemented in any turn based game, what is the point to get the initiative first if I can't choose when to use it?.
