Necromancer's Book is gone...
So I've been trying to figure out how to do this 'Search The Cellar' quest and it seems like there's a bug. The fire trap is automatically triggered before I even get past the mirror and if there's supposed to be a book in the little room, it's not there (maybe the fire wrecked it?) I don't know but I can't do this quest. I read through some walkthroughs in frustration and it just isn't working the way people say it's supposed to.

Other than that I've been enjoying the game. My characters feel horrifically underpowered but that just means I have to try to use a bit more strategy to avoid being floor paste. It does tend to detract from the game to have to keep reloading because my characters seem to have no to-hit ability whatsoever (some kind of tooltip with hints as to why to-hit % is so low would be really helpful). My best solution for the stupid skeleton fight was to drag them back to a room that had more light in it (I think it was a lighting issue) but then I was wondering why the hell there's no 'light' spell and why my characters with low-light vision seemed as impaired as all the rest when it came to the dark room. Honestly I think some of it is just me not interpreting some of the game mechanics right. I do like the NPCs though and the story is engaging so I will keep trying to play regardless. Still, if I were playing table-top I wouldn't have the option to reload and then plan an ambush for a huge room of skeletons who were supposed to have a surprise round on me, that just doesn't feel right.

For the book try clicking alt to highlight all clickable objects. The fire trap can't destroy the book, but it can knock it behind the pedestal or through the ground. While it's highlighted you can click on the text of it to pick it up.

I could try that but I roamed all around there and didn't see anything highlighted.

For me the fire trap has always been triggered before I get to the mirror and the book is always behind the pedestal. I find it by opening the iron gate, going into turn-based mode and sending someone behind the pedestal. When I pick up the book it turns off the fire trap.

Place companions on the trigger in front of the door - fire trap is disabled.

Did the same. It can be tricky to notice as it doesn't always highlight even while pressing that key. Just take a real good look around in turnbased mode.

Book sometimes not on the pedestal somehow fallen back thru the explosions.

I found you simply press forced turn mode go in out done. Has that changed?

I wanted to write and update. You are correct the book was behind the pedestal and pressing 'alt' was the only way I could see it because of the cobwebs. I did not see a way to disable the trap. My other characters standing on the plate did not make it stop. The only way I saw to get through the trap and back was to send a player through using turn-based mode. It just seemed buggy to me.

I do appreciate knowing about the 'alt' thing now. I did not know you could highlight things you could interact with in game and that it listed their names in text. This should be helpful later on. All the same I don't think this is working the way it is supposed to.
