Ya I know, which is unfortunate since DAO was fantastic and the other DA's were just meh at best.
Is that gonna be a spinoff game that starts off with the player being on a colony ship sent to another galaxy?
Inquisition would've been a lot better if it wasn't for that solo MMO experience vibe it gave off, the whole time I played that game I couldn't get the thought out of my head that it felt like it was supposed to be an MMORPG.
Yeaaa i know i'm kicking the ant mound here, just like if i was criticising FNV or Witcher 3, but DAO's gameplay isn't quite as good as everyone makes it out to be
In its defense, the AI control scripts system is pretty great
But as for character builds and all... ? Nah. You eventually sit on a pile of garbage skills which you never use. Every single fight is the same rotation, with bad rythm, and the builds aren't even interesting.
Personally i find DA2's combat designs much more flexible, streamlined to get rid of all the pointless clutter, and reactive.
Unfortunately that also was lost by transitioning to DAI's Frostbite, where they didn't manage to replicate both the builds flexibility and controls reactiveness, as well as brain dead AI you can no longer script or micro properly.
I mean i know i'm being partial since i think DA2 is the best in the series and it's sad how people got stuck up with the poor assets diversity.
But still, DAO's combat design is very dated, cluttered with garbage and not less repetitive than its successors.
We just don't have the same expectations it's ok
Despite that i think i would have preferred real time, or simulated real time (à la BG1&2) just like you do
It's not gonna happen so let's hope by release it's interesting and engaging, personally i fear it's just going to be a succession of puzzle solving disguised as battles.
I haven't even touched DOS2. I finished DOS1 but had to push myself not to uninstall. Mechanically was so boring. My builds stopped progressing level 15, midgame. Terrible inventory, terrible gameplay beyond Cesael
