Can you free Brakkal ? (goblin incaged in the goblins's camp)
I'm refering to the goblin caged into the goblin camp, underground. He's still worshipping the old goblins' god and not the absolute and has been imprisonned by the others. When I try to open his cage by lockpicking it, the cage explodes, killing the goblin (there are no perception check that could let you know about that, and thus, no " defuse" option). I tried again by killing the guards nearby and found the key to the cage, used it (thinking it wouldn't trigger the trap) and it still blows the cage... Is there a way to free this poor goblin without having him blow ?

Yes you can. The bottom part of the cage has hit points, so you can just destroy it.

I think you mean : the same way you free La'zael ? I just tried : the bottom of cage does break without blowing him up, but he launches a screem as if he was falling into the crevasse behind him.

He still "lives", he stays standing where his cage used to be, but when I try to talk to him the game sais "to far to reach", so I think the game considers he felt to his death. Maybe we can't just save him yet, or what I witness is a bug and we should be able to speak to him ?
I didn't say that if you free him you would get something out of that :D
I did it still in patch2 but I expected that this bug having him still in the air might be fixed somehow in patch3...

So far I don't think so.

You can unlock the cage - but he is staying in the cage by choice - beleive it or not, he would rather be in the cage with his faith intact, then be among all the Absolute worshippers. Seriously, have a conversation with him, he will tell you "I am staying in here"

If you'd read my thread : I DID use the key the second time and the cage blowed. Not to mention than you should have deducted by yourself that I HAD INDEED TALKED TO HIM, as I mentionned him as "the goblin who still worships his old god", so yes, I talked to him, and know about his story, but he never mentionned WANTING to stay in the cage to me. So thanks for your useless (and almost haughty) answer.

you know what - go screw yourself. There was nothing haughty about it, he is staying in his cage by choice, he tells you this as you go through the dialogue with him, especially if you are a cleric, or have shadowheart in your group - not my fault you failed to pay attention. Now run along and DIAF,

Hi everyone, I know the thread is necrotic and maybe has been answered elsewhere, but this is where I landed when looking for an answer in the current version so I figured I would share what I found. In spoiler text...of course!

It is entirely possible to save this goblin and doing so can get Shadowheart inspiration. If you want inspiration you should first pursue the conversation with the prisoner, then make sure any nearby guards are dead (I did so after killing most of the goblins in the entire fortress). Then you need to unlock the door, which can be done with a key or lockpick. BUT DO NOT OPEN IT YET you need to perceive the trap first...have a character with good perception around, maybe with guidance on them, and once you have found the trap you can disarm it. Now you can finally open the door, the goblin will jump free, thank you in a short cutscene conversation, and then run off. You will then receive the inspiration for Shadowheart: "Saving the heretic".

Thank you for the solution!

Yes. kill all the other goblins. disarm his cage. break or picklock the bars, or use the key.

he will thank you.
