So I’ve played through once and the language is not that bad, I didn’t see any nudity and the violence wasn’t too horrible. My 9 year old wants to play. I know there is probably worse than what I have seen, it’s just the choices I’ve made have not led to anything too explicit. Wouldn’t it be cool if all the nudity, language and extreme violence could be turned off so you could play with your kids and then you can turn it back on for when they are not around? I’m sure I wouldn’t be the only one who would buy a 2nd copy so I could play with my kid. But to anyone who has played through and may have seen the most explicit, how bad does it get?

ESRB rating is 17+ (M)

but after 3-4 playthroughs i've seen nothing that warrants it. could be PG13.

9 is pushing it tho lol

In my opinion sex and nudity shouldn't be such a taboo due to how it is a completely natural process for reproduction, the violence and the cruelty displayed in some parts of the game's story however, might be a bit too much for a 9 year old.

I mean, literally in the first five minutes of the game you can perform a lobotomy and there's gushers of blood everywhere.

The game starts off with you getting a tadpole going through your eye socket after watching it happen to someone else first. You can pull a brain out of a guy who seems to still be somewhat alive and that brain then grows legs and tentacles. That's all within the first 10 minutes of the game. Then there is also the child potentially getting murdered/killed, goblins roasting a Dwarf over a campfire, sexual scenes, etc.

Some games aren't meant to be played by kids and that's perfectly fine, if you want to play games with your kids then go buy a game that is kid friendly. We also don't know how much worse it gets, and while the game so far might not have shown that disturbing of scenes, that doesn't mean the full game won't and that still doesn't factor in that there are many darker subjects brought up in the game.

Oh and through datamining someone found things that point at Shadowheart getting tortured at some point which could end up being very disturbing for all we know.

There already is torture in EA, we can even choose to be the one ripping a dude's toe nail off, that alone is enough to disuade anyone from wanting their kids playing it.

Right I forgot that was an option since I never did it. Then there is also the guy self flagellating which you can also partake in.

This game shouldn't be played by children. It is M for a reason. It's more about the situations that the game presents the player with. My children are older now, but when they were 9 I wouldn't have wanted them to be exposed to 'dark fiction' at that time.

A certain drow ate me out as we were both bare naked on the screen with no censorship. Not for kids lmao

Not much of the sex is in the EA version, but what there is shows that the rating is deserved, as ratings are applied today.

Oh hey Jullie, what's that? You saw a dude get aggressively stabbed an murdered? Perfectly fine, OH MY GOSH JHONNY, YOU SAW A NIPPLE, YOU'RE TRAUMATIZED FOR LIFE.

Seriously though, I always consider Violence more inappropriate for children compared to pornography. Obviously I would prefer kids have neither. But I'm seeing it get put under the same weight as gory violence here.

I remember playing fallout 1 and shooting children in the balls with a pellet gun.

Yes, all kids should experience a hot Drow girl sitting on their char's face. Don't deprive the boy!
