On the road with my 1080 laptop, and my BG3 is stuck in 4k ...
At home I've been playing BG3 on a 4k monitor; right now I'm on the road with my 1080 laptop. When I open BG3, it opens in 4k, because that's what I last played in, which means I see about 1/4 of the screen, and unfortunately it's not the 1/4 that allows me to change resolution!

Is there a fix for this, maybe in an .ini file (thinking back to BG1 and 2 here) or similar?

Or some other way to force the game to open in 1080 or another smaller resolution, so that I can play during my trip?

Thanks;

A technically challenged DnD dude

I don't have the game myself so I can't check the directories, I made a few searches online for a config file though to no avail. ;[ I hope you get that worked out.

Have you tried holding down Alt and pressing Enter?
Look for the file "graphicSettings.lsx" in "\Documents\Larian Studios\Baldur's Gate 3". Make a backup of the file. Edit the original with a text editor. Look for this section (the file isn't very large):

<node id="ConfigEntry"> <attribute id="MapKey" type="FixedString" value="ScreenHeight"/> <attribute id="Type" type="int32" value="0"/> <attribute id="Value" type="int32" value="1080"/> </node> <node id="ConfigEntry"> <attribute id="MapKey" type="FixedString" value="ScreenWidth"/> <attribute id="Type" type="int32" value="0"/> <attribute id="Value" type="int32" value="1920"/> </node>

Your numbers will be different, obviously. You are looking for the spots where I have "1080" and "1920". You'll want to change the 1080 to the height of your screen in pixels, and the 1920 to the width of your screen in pixels. Ensure you change nothing else and save the file.

I have not tested this, but it should work.
