baldurs gate series ruined
this is not a bg game , i have been playing bg iwd from the beginning and still play them. this game is a dos game no matter what others say it just was slapped with the baldurs gate title. i sure hope a real new baldurs gate game gets made the right way so the series can live on . but if keeps going this way the series is dead

That's exactly why I'm going to buy it soon, because for me, DOS is better than Baldur (yes I said for me, it's my personal preference and you free to not agree) A DOS in Baldur skin fits my desires.

In the old disc version you could read on the loading screen that you could use your char in the coming Neverwinter nights. So you before TOB you could hope this would be an even longer story. BG2 close with TOB, and even if you did not to chose to become a good, the official is Bhaalspawn is dead, and Bhaal is back as god. Which happes direct in the city itself

(The Bhaalspawn in the official story became Grandduke of Baldurs Gate, he is attacked by a last Spawn, the guy who teleports away if you enter the in Trademeet and one of them got killed, and the last of them turned into the butcher and kill everyone until slay be an adventur group).
So even officially the Bhaalspawn is gone.

"the right way" - seriously mate - what makes your vision of Baldurs Gate the "right way". The infinity engine is old and limiting, Everything you can do in the game can be done in Dungouns and Dragons if you have an active and creative mind, and the Bhaalspawn story has been told. Baldurs Gate is a huge and sprawling city, with room for more then one epic story to be told. Stop limiting yourself by the past, and embrace something new.

The problem is Bhaal is not actually dead in current forgotten realms canon. They can actually do whatever the hell they want with the Story.

Come on OP, this is unfair, i'm 40ish and played the BG/Icewind Dale series 20 years ago.
I really like BG3 and their adaptation of D&D 5E, it's slow but tons of fun for me.

this is not a divinity game , i have been playing divinity games from the beginning and still play them. this game is a bg game no matter what others say about it being a divinity title. i sure hope a new divinity game gets made so the series can live on . but if this keeps going so well the series is dead

the truth is, that story, video game wise, is over. There is no reason to revisit it. Bhaal is alive, which means no more Bhaalspawn as his death was the reason bhaalspawn existed, and cannot exist when he is "alive" - the bhallspawn was the fragmentation of his power - he would need all of the aspects of his power returned so he could exist again. Anyway, your post sidesteps the original point I am making - Baldurs Gate is huge, with room for more then a dozen epic stories to originate from. Saying it's not a BG game because it doesn't meet what you envisioned is just your opinion, not a definitive exclamation that its not a BG game.

In the old disc version you could read on the loading screen that you could use your char in the coming Neverwinter nights.
Except that you never actualy could.

Dont be melodramatic. It may not be an actual Baldur's Gate sequel, but in no way ruins the saga.
It's a great game on its own. Besides, the BG series was already dead a buried. It's all gravy.

yeah - that saddened me when they announced a new engine and you would not be able to import your character. there is something to be said about continuing your character over a 3-4 game span - one of the reasons I likes Mass Effect sort of - as My shepard spanned 3 games.

Well, the easiest way to understand it for yourself is if you play BG 1&2 and then play BG3.
Which I highly suggest, as BG 1&2 are great crpgs.

if only it was. I might actually enjoy it.
Instead we get all this dumb dice rolling rng to ruin our games. Nothing is certain, nothing is plannable, everything is a dice roll.

Player: I want to see if I can convince the merchant to lower the price of this item.
DM: Roll persuasion
Player: (has a negative modifier in Charisma) rolls an 8 minus 1 for a 7
DM DC check was 10 - you failed
