Deeply unbalanced. especially in goblin camp
Anyone have any tips on how to play the game in the goblin camp? It's *deeply* unbalanced against the players, to the degree that goblins can range attack through doors (but the party can't) and they can shoot through solid roofs and other ceiling materials, but the party can't even get to them. It's very frustrating and I hope it's just a function of an early release.

I beat the goblin camp with 4 lvl 4 characters. It took awhile, and the last dozen turns only one character was alive, but it is doable.
A good tip is to equip your melee dps with a misty step spell and move them to the ranged cluster groups.
Speed potions are exceptionally useful when your outnumbered by an extreme amount, since most goblins have low hp killing one each action is a must.

Having a lot of health potions for bonus action healing is vital as most goblin attacks miss, but those that hit are gonna drop your health quick.

magic missile is extremely useful for taking out multiple nearly dead goblins.

Of course it is my high dex fighter using a scimitar and shield that survived.

Disclaimer: As someone with hundreds of hours in Original Sin 2 and who is a long time pen and paper player (pathfinder mostly, have not touched 5e) I personally didn't find the goblin camp all that challenging and I've now completed it on most of the classes with a range of different party comps.

My biggest tips are that you really need to make sure you're controlling the high ground with your ranged characters and you should get into position as best as you can before the fights even start. It's always better to start with a sneak attack as you'll surprise a lot of the goblins thus skipping their first turns, allowing you to thin the field a little which makes it far simpler.

Just explode the whole camp with throwables and barrels if you don't want to take 3 years. The legit way is only for D&D players.

You can solo the camps if you use your environment. As you said though its EA. any bugs you are encountering will get removed later.

That said, everyone playing should have a solid QA tester resume after this.

I don't want to sound rude, but the goblin camp is not that hard. I cleaned it out in my play through with only 1 real tank in the party. I've also watched several others role play their way through it.

Larian wants you to approach some encounters with a plan. If your plan is to walk through the front door, your going to have a bad time.

Yeah that shooting through walls and doors was really frigging annoying.

Their numbers and the fact that every other third goblin has bombs or grease bottles is pretty problematic. I talked my way in, killed one of the bosses, started a fight with the last two, and summoned the Ogres in to tank their BS numbers as my party focused down the individual guys. It took a while.

Have you heard of barrelmancy?

You can get on the roof tops. Use fog cloud to disable their range. Did it with a level 3 party so it definitely can be done. Just strategize positions to give damage and not take it. Use cc and use thrown items like grease and acid. Pop a haste pot on a rogue for some fast moving death dealing.

Imagine all encounters being hordes of ranged enemies with bombs, elemental arrows and grease bottles over a cliff.

The easiest way I found is as the others stated by using the barrels, a lot of these can be found in a storage room guarded by some mercenaries. You set them up by groups of goblins and close enough so they chain explode if done right you can take out the whole lower level which is about half the goblins. I did the same thing in the Goblin leaders room.

One of the best fights, get on top, or bottle neck them, was really fun to do.

There is no reason to fight anyone in the Golblin camp. So if its a problem for you don't.

I assume you went into the camp without triggering the fight at the checkpoint.

Once you are in, go straight inside, there will be another checkpoint, but if you change your appearance to a Drow, the guards will let you in.

First, talk to the female goblin leader, she will lead you to her room, you can kill her inside that room, be sure to close the door before doing anything.

Then, get to the Drow leader. The key is to destroy the drum before any goblins can get to it.

Last, it's the big male goblin that's glowing red. This will be the hardest part of all. Get your ranged char up on the beams, and the one down there will prolly die, but no matter, as long as your mage/ranger/priest are up on the beams, many can't even touch you without running across the room. Kill the mages and priests first, then the ranged arrow mobs.

After fighting the big goblin, the whole camp will turn hostile. So don't go out without getting full rests between fights.

tip: you can shoot through arrow slits and “peaking” around corners is a thing. Your members dont always have to be out in the open and use cover to reduce hit chance. although of course some of them just end up walking around it. Also, I never had trouble fighting the goblins cause I am their master 😈
