I had the same question. Or more accurately, I'm fishing for spoilers. LOL.

No, u should kill him by throwing him into Minthara's spider pit.

You can, feed him the idol of sylvanus, thats a big one.

If you keep refusing to give him artifacts he will steal one. If you don't talk to him about them he wont steal one because you never refused him.

Also, if u don't provide Gale with artifacts on time he will make a deal with Raphael, if he met him before.

Yep. Just goes to show that behind those theatrics and "kind" personality lies a shallow egoist. Like - well, most of the companions so far (maybe it's just EA that makes them feel like that since they only have a chance to show their "bad" sides).

The best way to go about it is indeed to never talk with Gale. Then - even if you'll get his high approval - he won't mention it in any side dialogues. But I think they will fix it. For instance, Astarion will force the issue with his blood hunger regardless of PC talking to him - it will just happen so long as he was recruited. I think they will go the same way about Gale in next patches too.

Imagine putting hundreds of hours into the final release of BG3. You do every side quest. Explore every dungeon. Defeat every boss. And GALE absorbs every viable piece of loot you acquire.

I think the reward for doing this would have to be pretty extreme in the long run for this to actually pay off.

What the heck is Gale anyways?
I doubt he's even human. When he dies, some illusion of himself tries to talk me into resurrecting him. I usually don't.

Well, I could go with the description "An embodiment of arrogance and narcissism hidden behind a sham of mannerism and noble kindness". At least that's it so far. His story was that he got mingled with Mystra herself but then got dumped - however wasn't "alfa" enough to accept breaking out with her so got himself into trouble that led to his current condition. He also lost a lot of levels in the process, that's why he is level 1.

And to be honest - if that story holds water I don't want to even begin to imagine what he is like when he is at his "prime" - i.e. if he is again at the top, his power is back and yada yada. If he's so self-centered and bold in his current condition, I doubt any good would come from him regaining power.

For the Act1 part of the game when he finally mentions it you really dont need to i was able to ignore it and finish what was left of that playthru i had planned, but my guess is full game if he is in your party. yes you will need to in order to stop what ever is going on lol

I typically give up the items I don’t care about, like the staff from the hag

I never give him sword of Justice, idol of sylvannus. Love those 2.

Sometimes I give him the neck from the Gobo camp, but it’s pretty good I’d recommend not. It works great on elves/half elves since they’re immune to sleep

I’m debating just killing Gale. I never use him and I just don’t like him. Can’t explain why.

Shadowheart ftw.

Does the Idol of Silvanus have any special effect?

It gives the carrier of it, and everyone near them, advantage on Animal Handling and Nature checks.

I think it’s AH and Nature, it might be survival, it’s 2 skill checks.

It’s a nice passive bonus, not that amazing but it’s free bonuses so I always keep it handy

I appreciate that the devs are trying to do something unique.

With that said, if Gale was legitimately suffering in agony from not having magical energy, I would absolutely be willing to sacrifice items to him.
However, Gale is totally NOT suffering. He's prideful, vane and in love with himself. So much so, that he creates a mirrored illusionary image of himself to smile at.

I would rather give Astarion my blood.

You can give him the selunite necklace from Dror's stash too, it's fairly useless and its strong enough for a while for gale. (Unless they changed it lol) you can also give him the iron flask from the zhentarim chest at the end of the gnoll encounter.

The artifacts he demands were gained by all in the party and paid in by their blood and danger. And those are literally the things which might be paramount to survival - they are powerful and can turn the tides of battles.

So Gale stealing said artifacts just shows he doesn't care about anyone but himself. He places his survival way before anyone else's all the while he enjoys the benefits of the companions he is with to save his sorry hide. He's just .. petty.
