I found that out the hard way my first play lol. This time around i snuck up on him and got a free hit on him before the battle started........was easy this time lol!
Sounds like you are new to DnD, so the basic thing with how combat works is that you roll to hit, then you roll to do damage. In DnD, abilities that reduce damage are few, so when you are actually hit, it hurts. A lot.
Love it or hate it, the name of the game is "Dont get hit"
It's good enough that they can have 10 enemies throwing exploding bottles and crap at your whole party already. So everyones on fire or has statuses every turn.
