Baldur's Gate 3
Loot Variety - EA or simply underwhelming?
I'm now at about 20 Hours of gameplay but something is really lacking. I really enjoy loot - even random loot - and giving new items to my chars.

In this game im now at 20 hours - most of the stuff (which isnt much) is garbage - my chars havent even their basic inventory slots filled except for the stuff they started with (found one worthless cap in 20 hours and 3 probably hand placed head gears on story characters (1 pair of shoes) etc.)

Is this really it? Or is most of it simply missing because its still EA. Should this really be all you find in a normal game - to be honest this would really hurt this game - at least from my point of view.

But not only do i find almost nothing - 99% of what i find is even worse than the things i start with.

And please - please add a hide helmet option.

its just act 1, so i'm not seriously worried about the loot. Personally. But yeah let me get a flaming sword or something. would be nice.

We have a year to go, at least. it's nothing to get to concerned over.

Well i am concerend - Act 1 is a lot - if it was only in the beginnig - okay but for so long?

Is there any information on what they are planning regarding items? Loot Variety, Random Loot etc.? I know many people dont care about that - many even dislike rather random loot but i really enjoy that in games like this.

Thats because of low lvl D&D system and Larian's love to make tons of garbage items in their games
Normally I'd just say a combination of EA and Act 1. But I was always underwhelmed by DOS loot. I hope that Larian mentality doesn't make it into BG3.
You have to loot your companions for loot.
There's only space for 4 in a party. Who gets to live or not is based on who has the best loot, if you start as cleric shadowheart is gutted inside out to find loot for your cleric
Ironically I've found more valuables (gemstones, jewelry) and magic equipment (like a spear that inflicts true strike) that I never would have expected to find in a D&D game. Magic equipment in the PnP game is incredibly rare, usually
I think it's probably a good idea start with a low loot rate and increase it later in early access if necessary. No one wants to come back to a game in a few months and find out that half of the loot is gone.
From what I've seen I can safely say that the loot is not random, and yes, too much garbage. I hope we will have more Arbor and weapons
There's honestly too much loot variety. I just want to find better light armor rather than some non-dnd 'magical' chest piece that gives some weird ability or permanent spells.

I cant think of anything more boring than what you just wrote. And even less loot variety? Why even bother playing a game with loot etc. at all if you dont want loot?

I do want loot. I want dnd loot. I'd be perfectly fine with selling everything and purchasing a nice, simple +1 sword for my gith girl. Maybe a +1 shield for Shadowheart as well.
