Did you dump your charisma stat or something? Give some details, here. I've played through the entire game and the only persuasion checks you can fail that result in death either REALLY telegraph it ahead of time, or are actual bugs.

Details, please.

I heard you like roll checks, so have some roll checks with your roll checks dawg.

I agree, roll checks in conversations is dumb.... have a stat check gatekeep and move on.

I remember this conversation.

Try intimidation instead.

In the forest, near the burning camp of the Flaming Fist.. hehe.. yeh.. there's a house beyond the burning path, I used a water barrel to clear it, the water spell doesn't really work. The house is next to the stable/cowshed with the cow in it, has 2-3 boxes in front of door, as you approach you're warned "there's someone moving about in there" there's a Dex roll check, then a Persuasion check.. and for me, it was roll a 20. I failed got a 2 i think.. and the room exploded killing everyone.

One in a conversation is fine, even one or two.. but I have 16 chr.. and a 20 demand is insane.

I agree this roll is too unforgiving, I have a 17 charisma, and had to roll around a 10 (I might misremember the exact number though, maybe it was higher). But "the everyone dies punishment" if you fail is a bit harsh. But I think you can blow up the barrels yourself before entering (you won't know what will happen on your first attempt though, and will probably die).

Burn you bastard! I failed that convo twice. Reloaded because it seemed like one I wanted to pass.

Yeh unfortunately, I reloaded my save and it put me back to where I was this morning. I can't be bothered doing all the stuff again.. gonna do something else and hope it saves in future.

Oh just discovered F5 works for Quicksave..

I suspect you can get a similar thing from trapped chests, you need an extremely high skill check - maybe 20?? - to avoid instant death.

I got lucky, entered with Aston who has specific conversation / replies to this - if your main is a thief, you should too.

The game does warn you that you can hear something behind the door, which is 199% the time to spam F5.

heheheh... I've been playing multiplayer with my friends and they passed the conversation checks, but i wasn't paying attention to any of it cause I was slow to arrive. ran past them during their conversation and down the hallway which ended up triggering the trap on them and blowing them all up. Was hilarious.

When a game says "there's someone moving about inside" it typically means that the person inside is likely to be hostile or a dangerous situation awaits.

There are many different ways of handling this situation. I went in stealthed, snuck up behind him and unstealthed to speak to him since it was only one guy, he immediately panicked and ran away through a hatch in the floor. I also could have killed him from behind.

Going in as a wizard I got a DC 10 for intelligence, going in as rogue I got a DC 10 for persuasion, going in as a fighter the only two options were the two normal ones but sending a fighter to meet a potentially dangerous person likely isn't a great option in the first place.

Weird that it was a 20.... I haven't had a check higher than like a 13 on anything so far I think. I'm kinda okay with the everyone dies thing, honestly. One of the reasons I like D&D is that you have freedom to make choices. Some good, some bad. Sometimes, the choice is fine, but the consequence is dire. It's more realistic. I definitely do think if they are going to have it be a high likelihood of a tpk (total party kill) that they should have an autosave set up as you approach though.
