Devs are lazy, no full localization ?!
I'm a big fan of Baldur's Gate, and I have to say that I'm really disappointed by the devs.

Baldur's Gate 1 and 2 have a full localization of the game, with voice acting for each language (German, French, Spanish...)

In this Baldur's Gate 3, we don't have any voice acting in these language, this is just in English. It's literally a shame for AAA Game, especially a RPG, to don't do a full localization of the game.

I can understand it for a game like Divinity Original Sins because the budget was pretty "low" and was not designed to be an AAA, so I'm okay with that and I enjoyed the game, even if I had some difficulties to follow what the characters was saying sometimes.

I speak english, no difficulties to understand, but sometimes I have some difficults when some words I don't know are used, or when there's a pronounced accent. But the fact is that for a RPG, it's a real immersion-breaker when english is not your native language.

Really disappointed, you can't do Baldur's Gate 1 and 2 with a full voice-acting in different languages, and not doing it for Baldur's Gate 3. Especially when you have an AAA Budget, even EA do full localization for their games, same for CD Projekt.

I will play the game because I like Baldur's Gate and D&D, but damn, it's shame.

Early access is sold for 60€.

If the voice acting is not done now when the first part of the game is ready, it will never be done.

So, you play a game only by closing your eyes and listen to npc's dialogues ? Don't you think it will be better to work on full voice acting and localisation after they finished with the story ? or maybe the gameplay/combat system ? or with the random bugs ?

Sure peoples seems to have their priorities at the right place right now...

Steam level 0. No one is forcing you to buy this. It's clearly early access and labelled as so. You have no case. There is no argument. Can't afford it, too expensive or other? Don't buy it. Stop crying.

I just dropped by to tell you what an idiot you are for expecting a full game with it's clearly stated that it's still in EARLY ACCESS. Devs are lazy? More like you're too lazy to use your brain.

OP is not right in the head.
Localization after alpha testing ffs.
Baldur's Gate 2 store page only shows English as full audio. You sure the voiceovers are in other languages too?

So you say you're not an idiot? You said you read the Early Access Eula and it didn't mention anything about full localization then you buy the said EA anyway and then bash on the devs for being so lazy that they don't do full localization, please enlighten me what part of that doesn't make you stupid?

You should learn to respect others my friend.

I don't understand why you are so aggressive, saying someone is an idiot because he thought an AAA game would be dubbed in his native language ?

You should learn good manners.
Because the problem is you. They said no full localisation from the start. The Steam page tells you full audio is English only.

The fault rests with you, not anyone else.

Also hypocritical. You're not respecting the devs by calling them lazy. Why should anyone respect you?
Please german voice over like Divinity 1&2.
I don't understand why they do this.
Many Indie developer with less money offer games with german voices.
the german border is near and more languages more buyer.
This phantasie english is very hard to understand please think about it.

No the full game is sold for 60E. You can buy it now and start playing it early or buy it at release for the same price and start playing it in 2021 or 2022.

French and Spanish will absolutely be supported I think, nt sure about the other languages..

Consider it an opportunity to improve your English skills. If there are still words you have trouble hearing, your English may not be as good as you think it is.
Baraz 12. Okt. 2020 um 21:39
You have really no clue what you are saying ...

They are CURRENTLY adding TENS OF THOUSANDS of voiced lines in English...

There are already over 45,000 voiced lines just in Act 1 !!! :caststrength:
How the hell can you call them lazy for not having translated all that in many languages already when the game is not even released !!!

Translating all that will most probably be done, in a few languages, but ...
the game needs to be developed beyond beta, as stories and lines can change. Not waiting means they could translate and voice act in vain / waste. They need an initial complete English version BEFORE localizing.

Do players realize the GIGANTIC management feat and costs to accompilsh all that ! You need local teams who hire the voice actors for each language, manage the recording (with the current pandemic), contracts and payment, edit and normalize the sound files, implement... They will do it, but it is a huge international job and they will logically wait for the game to be closer to the end-product.

English dub only, it sounds like even doing just that will take ages. It's too much work to do other languages. See the video at 34:32.
