Friends Cantrip Bugged?
Guidance appears to reduce the DC requirement by 1d4 (properly) when making checks in a conversation. Friends, however, appears to do nothing?

guidance effects ability checks not skill checks in this version.

friends only gives advantage on charisma based skill checks if I remember correctly.

Two examples: Guidance affects Persuasion (CHA) checks or Arcana (INT) checks. Friends should affect the same Persuasion (CHA) check, but not the Arcana (INT) check. It doesn't seem to do anything atm though. I've tried the same Persuasion (CHA) check with and without Guidance, and with and without Friends. The DC is lower with Guidance, but otherwise remains unchanged.

friends gives advantage, which wouldnt affect the DC, just let's you roll twice and take the better role.

Guidance adds a d4 so it will actually affect the DC

Yes, but what I'm saying is that it isn't giving me advantage. It has zero effect on the rolls in any way. At first I thought it might be doing something behind the scenes like just giving a flat -5 to the roll requirement, but it isn't even doing that. You don't roll twice, the DC doesn't change.

I want to know if I'm the one who is bugged or if the spell is.

So with friends, if the roll fails, you just get to roll a second time. I have not used friends, but I have seen advantage work properly in dialogue.

Sometimes it disappears, for examples, on Steel Watchers. Idk if it's indended like they aren't people and can't be friends with you, or a bug, since both sound logical, but i'd give it some time to know for sure. Most of the time it works though.

Friends is a concentration spell also, so you can't use both Guidance and Friends. Or can cancel it by other concentration spell.

Why did you necro a 3 year old thread about an issue that doesn't exist any more

Can't you stack Guidance and Friends?

They can be stacked. Like he was saying, they do two different things. Guidance adds 1d4 to your die roll and Friends gives you advantage, letting you roll two dice and choosing the higher die.

So with friends and guidance you roll two dice then add 1-4 to the higher die to get your roll result.

This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
