Find Doni side quest help

So im in the druids grove right before the battle, and this one tiefling asks you to find the mute kid Doni, i remembered where i met him so i go there, find him and try talking to him. only there is no dialogue options with him like i get that hes mute but i should be able to talk at him. I went back to the npc who gave the task but she just repeats the same dialogue about him being missing. So am i supposed to do something the game isnt telling me? Like bring him an item or talk to someone else etc...? tried giving it a google but nothing came up.

Is he the one that lets you into the underground hide out of the Tiefling kids? If so try doing the beach quest first.

you can poke the kid and make a perception check (hardish?) to spot the secret entry, but there isnt anything for you down there until you have done the beach. If you do the beach, he just lets you in and you get another quest.

Just before the battle at the Emerald Grove, Doni (the mute tiefling child) can be found in front of the stone door in the Sacred Pool (it's leading to the cave where Kagha and Nettie were).
The door is locked by the druids inside, and the child is just waiting in front of it. You can tell him to go find his mother and finish the side quest.

When i speak to him, he just says *Mmhmm*
The lady is still looking for him, no dialog options
