For a spell you get access to so early it can be useful, especially in situations where that one charmed enemy is really far away from the rest of your team and does not have ways to attack them on their next turn.
Only advice i can give - try exclude "situational" spells from your list. On other side you can change prepeared spell at any time(which is imposible in original 5e) so you can allow youself pick some spells just to amuse yourself(IF you are wizard).
Note in D&D the person charmed knows it is charmed and while it has some effect , next time the characters get together it may consider it as a insult or hostile action
