Lets talk Familiars
Which ones are the best and why?

So far I like the Raven for the blind and fly ability.

Wish we had Bat for arcane trickster fun.

I wish we had owl with help action and flyby for literally the reasons it is so infamous in 5E. I haven't looked over it all but are you going for the normal spell familiars or are you including the pact of the chain familiars too?

Depends on your targets and party. The debuffs can help you hit important save-or-suck spells (e.g. grease), and some enemies are immune to some conditions (intellect devourers and blind).

But I do like raven as a general purpose option, if we’re not including the Warlock exclusive demons.

Note though, there seems to be a one-summon-per-character rule in effect, which, among other things, means the Beastmaster Ranger can’t benefit from the most obviously aligned starting Ranger speciality.

The Warlock's Quasit familiar is great, I like using the Fear ability to cheese attacks of opportunity when they run away

So far using Wyll, it seems the only way i can do any actual damage with a familiar is using the Imp and it's sting ability. When i tried the Quasit i was always doing 1 damage, not sure why, maybe it's a bug.

If you are a warlock, the quasit is pretty good for scare ability, and the imp is really good with it's fly bonus action ability to basically get it in close getting attacks of opportunity on ranged enemies that will move away from it, and it's poison sting is a chance at extra damage every time it hits so it can do decent damage. The imp is also surprisingly durable, but some of that may be a bug (it's not taking any fire damage, and very reduced acid damage, not sure if devils are fire immune in 5e or not as I've only played a few sessions earlier this year.)

I did not know about the one per summon rule. Hopefully it is fixed. we can report it as a bug
