(skill checks)

You have +5 proficiency in persuasion and maxed out Charisma.
Roll a 5 or above.

YOU ROLL A 4.

Intimidation check, you have +3 proficiency.
Roll a 7 or abov...
YOU ROLL A 6
Reroll?
YOU ROLL A 1.

I actually decided to test a skill check by reloading saves. Roll a 14 or above to convince Khaga with persuasion. So 14-20 is 7 possible numbers for success on a 20-sided die. Thats roughly a 33% chance.

It took 14 reloads to finally roll above 14. That is about 7% success chance, which is significantly lower than 33%. I'm not saying it is broken RNG, I don't know enough about the games system to say for sure. But it is definitely not behaving as you would expect.

Inspecting the little Tadpole container in the very beginning of the game requires investigation - I had to roll a 5 or above to pass the skill check. That is about 80% success chance, but again, it took 7 reloads to finally pass the skill check. That is a 14% success rate, which is far lower than 80%.

Perhaps reloading saves (scumming) alters the RNG system somehow, which could account for these discrepancies. I'm not sure, however. Something about the RNG skill checks really doesn't add up.

I agree, the rng feels oddly bad. Miss several turn in a row at 90% chance to hit, happens way too often. It could happen once in a blue moon, but not several fights in a row. That or my bad luck is epic.
hmm... question
when you had 95% chance to hit... did the enemy have the higher ground? or some other buff...
then it could be.. that you got an disadvantage to hit...
which means.. you roll 2d20 and take the lower one...
just saying

I have to say I haven't experienced this at all. Even with 65% hit chance I hit more attacks than I miss. It's nowhere near as bad as Wasteland 2 was (In terms of success-to-fail ratio).

I'd say you're probably just being exceptionally unlucky. Keep in mind that 60%, 80% or even 95% is not 100%. Albeit unlikely, you could theoretically fail a 99% roll 3 times (or more) in a row.

Use sleep on enemies hit them while they sleep, sleep cares only about hp so it works as long as their health is low enough. You always hit sleeping enemies and it`s always a critical hit
Sounds just like D&D to me. I only need to roll a 6? easy... 5, well ♥♥♥♥
99% chance to miss isn't an XCOM meme for no reason.

I needed to roll a 19 for something and rolled a 20. I was happy.

Every other time though, it was failure with little success.

I still think they should ditch 5th edition and use 3.5.

Same thing happens in Kingmaker which is based on 3.5, too. It's the nature of the dice.

That`s nowhere enough test to conclude anything, you`d need to roll 100s or 1000s of times to get a proper conclusion.

Flip a coin 10 times did you get 5 heads and 5 tails? Pretty sure you won`t, still 50% to get either
if my set of dice were as bad as the rolls in this game they would already be in the fireplace where they belong.....

why would dev cheat roll for a single player game??? if it's loot box system or some crafting in mmo that's would make sense.
Oops, that's probability!

it is not even close to 5e. 3.5 is far superior and doesn't spike peg you like a S&M hooker
Yeah, I'd rather just see the roll results and maybe the AC to hit. Percentage doesn't mean anything.

all you guys complaining about rng need to play games like battle brothers and darkest dungeon.
Battle Brother- brother here. I confirm the above.
If you're complaint is the dice rolls aren't working correctly, GUESS WHAT!? It's in EARLY ACCESS!!! That's the point of it being in EA, to see these things in motion and if need be, iron them out or fix the problems. If you or anyone on here is whining on the forums because something isn't working correctly or broken, you didn't really pay attention to the disclaimer on the store page before making your buy at checkout did you...
