I actually decided to test a skill check by reloading saves. Roll a 14 or above to convince Khaga with persuasion. So 14-20 is 7 possible numbers for success on a 20-sided die. Thats roughly a 33% chance.

It took 14 reloads to finally roll above 14. That is about 7% success chance, which is significantly lower than 33%. I'm not saying it is broken RNG, I don't know enough about the games system to say for sure. But it is definitely not behaving as you would expect.

Inspecting the little Tadpole container in the very beginning of the game requires investigation - I had to roll a 5 or above to pass the skill check. That is about 80% success chance, but again, it took 7 reloads to finally pass the skill check. That is a 14% success rate, which is far lower than 80%.

Perhaps reloading saves (scumming) alters the RNG system somehow, which could account for these discrepancies. I'm not sure, however. Something about the RNG skill checks really doesn't add up.

i agree that its stupid how many misses there are in combat. but i actually had insanely good rolls in conversations. i basically only failed like the 7th roll and then went back to having good rolls. I want to say you just have terrible luck but it might be a bug for some people. might be good to report this as a possible bug.

as for combat it's true. the amount of times i missed is insane and dont get me started on hitting them with 1 damage every 4 rounds. its like can this battle be over already?

take a look at skill checks.. you even see the dice roll.. and you can also miss the roll if you have to roll a 5...

Well, as my 80-95% chance to hit continually miss a dumb brain with legs who in turn 1 or 2 shots my character and am left to wonder..... 1 - Did I save scum before this fight? 2 - why can't I just kick an exposed brain? 3 - Shouldn't any hit on an exposed brain be a crit?

Sigh... looks like I forgot to safe before the fight.

At first some of the failed skill checks upset me as well, but then.. I shrugged them off and instead of reloading after each one. I played the game. A fail isn't the end of the game, it just opens up different options. My first play through nearly done I had so much fun, and I failed a bunch, but I also made a bunch of checks. You can't worry about a failure, there is sooo much more to explore, one bad roll, or a bunch of bad rolls happen.. learn, move on and keep going.

I have failed litterally every skill check ive had when i played.... except one with the dying mindflayer... which just ended up getting me killed as i failed the second wisdom check to break free of its control...

And this is with alot of it having bonuses to the skill checks... I once needed to roll a 3... and i rolled a 1.... so I must have the absolute worst luck in the world.

is there anything i can do if I have dead characters i cant revive in my party... i cant even rest as long as they are dead and with no way to revive them that means i can never replenish my spells... ever... so can anything be done in this situation or am i just screwed?

I needed to roll a 19 for something and rolled a 20. I was happy.

Every other time though, it was failure with little success.

I still think they should ditch 5th edition and use 3.5.

i would also kinda prefer 3.5 or pathfinder...
but honestly.. my PnP group switched to 5e and we like it...
also.. look at Pathfinder Kingmaker... it still has bugs because 3.5 is a nightmare

This is just a table top game with good graphic, only fanboys of this game going to enjoy playing it and they are all just bunch of crazy fans that willing to die to defend it. As their holly larian said, this game not for everybody (only for my fans, HUAH ha ha ha). Roll dice this roll dice that, i bet most of you just save scums everything and then says already play it for 20 hrs of fun. ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.
