The Legendary Iron Flask

anyone else managed to pop open that Zhentarim caravan chest containing the Iron Flask? if so, any idea what significance it may have story wise? Probably not since this is just early access but i'm curious.

For those that havent found it, if you wish to know it contains a Spectator, a less powerful beholder. It's a shame that they make it lose its power after opening and releasing the contents, the actual 5E legendary item is reusable, why do that to us? Imagine being able to go back and capture the Owlbear with it, save it for a difficult encounter, I'm actually curious to try unleashing the creature inside of it in the middle of a tough boss battle, see if you can get the monster to fight a giant mob or whatever lol

I am going to try this on the spider boss. I released it in the camp and it bugged out causing my game to crash when I try to reload my save.

I wish there was more talking about this topic. I am hoping we could capture the other beholder next to the Selune temple down in the underdark area.

Yeah, it's pretty worthless after one releases what's trapped inside. It's actually a pretty interesting magic item, one of the only D&D magic items in the game besides +x weapons and armor.

I can't remember if I tried to feed it to Gale after the contents are emptied. Is that possible, I wonder?

Well, according to the Zhents it was something some wizard in the city wanted. Maybe it has to do with the main story, or maybe it's just a side plot where you can hoodwink the Zhentarim out of a payday if you play your cards right.

I'd prefer they didn't make it reusable. At least if they did, they should give it out way later in the game. It'd be broken otherwise.

I was personally hoping that using it and doing the thing will allow it to have some significant story role later, won't know till it happens but as for now its an item to feed gale only.

there could do gazillion things with it story wise giving it to gale is the most boring thing one could do.

Maybe they did a quest where you can trap a new monster in it.

I agree, I hope it has other uses, I like to think they added it early because originally you only had 3 or 4 items to give him originally, and I would imagine each one comes at some cost at some point. At least that would be the best way to play into it really make those items worth it.
