Report a translation problem
1. Holding the torch, right click an interactable item which has a fire source [i.e. candle or candelstand] and there should be an option you can use there.
2. I believe if there is a fire hazard/fire source nearby, you can 'coat' your torch using the 'coat weapon' action.
Otherwise, unless there is a specific item I am unaware of, you can't light the torch.

I tried equiping the torch and lighting it with a candle, a fireplace, a brazier, etc.. Am I missing something?
There was no extra option to light a torch from a candle or other light source, but using the dip action on the light source did light the torch.
If this is like 5E you only need light in areas of complete darkness and only for characters lacking darkvision, else wise all you get is disadvantage to perception rolls which also reduces passive perception by 5
