"Unlock the ancient tome" - how to open? where to find the gem-key?

The Keygem (it's an amethyst) is beneath the town you find the book in (Blighted Village). You can go down the well, or into the barn to get down below it, there are phase spiders you have to fight and then a Phase Spider Matriarch that spawns a ton of baby phase spiders. They're tough. She's level 4.

Once I unlocked the Tome and I managed to somehow RNG may way through the Saving Throws for it I don't know what the point of the quest was. Doesn't seem to have rewarded me with anything. Just said in the dialogue that I now have knowledge that I "should have never known."

thank you, I'll see what spiders, whether they can do me, I have only 3 level, there are trolls in the village and they can be hired, maybe you can drag them to the spiders, but probably they can only be used on goblins(used google translate).

It give you the spell "Speak with the dead" if you are able to read it all.

Gosh! The game really wants you to be able to speak with the dead for some reason?

Quest is still bugged for me:
Have now the book "Necomancy of Thay" as well as the Dark Amethyst in my inventory.
When I try to read the book, the cinematic starts but doesn't progress when the wizard asks me to hand over the tome. The quest does not progress to tell me either to read or destroy the book.
