DX11 vs Vulkan
Swapping to DX11 from Vulkan ended up fixing most of my crashing issues. Did this work for anyone else?

It's better but the game definitely has massive optimization issues.

nope, in fact the update today actually broke the game for me on both. Just a black screen forever

I'm getting: Vulkan 75-90 fps average, DX11 90-110 fps average

Nope, I still have to launch my game using the bg3_dx11 executable.

the game still crashes with vulkan and with dx11 although the update is out. With me the game crashes after just 15 minutes of playing.

I had that problem too (even from the start) and tried minimizing and then maximizing the game again. Worked now and then if not all the time. After putting the game into borderless window mode it works now 100% for me.
Hope that helps you as well.

Yeah, I was crashing a lot (in character creation, in cutscenes, directly after the ship crash, etc.) and got a weird graphical glitch right at the start of the ship crash cutscene where my entire screen was just a mess of colours, but switching from Vulcan to DX11 fixed my problems. Maybe the patch helped, too. I didn’t test it before switching.

thank you braxxas, can it also be that my graphics card is not good enough. This is my processor: Intel(R)Core(TM)i7-9750H CPU @ 2.60 GHz (12CPUs), ~2.6GHz, DirectX-Version: DirectX 12, Intel(R) UHD Graphics 630, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 with Max-Q Design

There was an update? i didnt see any downloads or anything..
I couldnt run it on Vulkan before, the FPS would drop to 1 after 15 minutes.

No crashes for me at all so far, but DX11 for the FPS gains for sure can! I nearly hit 130 FPS on DX11, on Vulkan it's like 85-95 FPS.

How do I change it to borderless windowed mode from the launcher? For me the black screen happens immediatly upon booting the game up from the launcher or the EXE

Edit: nvm, for some reason it's loading to the main menu today.

Your Graphics Card is comparable to mine [gpu.userbenchmark.com], which is an older model, though your CPU has me beat by 8. With BG3 stuttering a lot and Cyberpunk 2077 on the horizon I guess it's time for me to get a new rig.

Just had this issue myself - have a 1070 gtx - and switching DX11 solved the bulk of my issues. Another user was kind enough to explain that the 10 series doesn’t play nice with Vulcan.
