Necromancy?
Is it a subclass? Just curious, would be cool to have it.

yes, it's a subclass of Wizard in the PHB. Not all subclasses are in the game yet.

Couldn't a mage/wizard become a necromancer as well if i remember from some other games that dealt with DnD stuff.

Wizards do indeed get a subclass for the school of Necromancy. If we specifically mean raising the dead as zombies/skeletons/etc* then Wizards get Animate Dead as a 3rd level spell (requiring a level 5 wizard), all Wizard subclasses can learn Animate Dead, the subclass just gets to do it slightly better.

* to differentiate it from resurrection spells like revivify are considered necromancy spells too, which is a Cleric/Paladin spell

You're thinking 3.5e, this is 5e, there is no pale master and Wizards can become necromancers in 5e. Warlocks however have very very little in the way of necromancy, Create Undead I think is all that is available in PHB, which Wizards also get.
