If you're going in expecting something like DOS3, you're going to be let down.
It's a blend, there's things you can tell are from D&D CRPG like BG1/2, but it's also using the divinity engine so it does have that DOS feel.
It's more than just a mod, it's a new engine, but that engines father is DOS2.
The combat also seems more like in a D&D game, not based on combining different liquids, but that is still an option. I'm only 5 hours in, but so far I like it more than the Divinity games, but that and the encounter design could change at any time.
first menu has PARTS of DoS2 music in it
First menu is too similar to DoS2 (beach setup)
DoS2, you start on a ship you need to escape, ♥♥♥♥ happens, you crash end up on a beach
BG3, you start on flying ship you need to escape, ♥♥♥♥ happened, you crash and end up on a beach.
even the Prologue area setup is pretty much a reskin of the DoS2 first area (more or less)
i played 7h and honestly i just feel the game lacks its own identity, when you hear the music you feel like DoS again, but you see DnD skin everywhere.
its a midge disapointing. game is good regardless, but the beginning feels very un inspired or rather too much inspired by DoS2.
