Why do you think there was such a big gap between 2 and 3, because WoTC were so unhappy with what they got they, until now, did not believe that their world, with its turn-based rules could apply to video games.
Thank you Larian, for proving them wrong.
You must be joking. Bioware (EA) didn't want the license. Any semblance of the old Bioware, that made BG1 and BG2, have long departed for other studios (Obsidian). WoTC were unhappy with BG1 and BG2? Are you crazy? They won so many awards for the work that was done. BG1 and BG2 are classics in the genre. WoTC isn't happy with that?
Larian has the worst writing skills of any RPG that I have ever had the misfortune to play. I've played several of their Divinity games and they're just abysmal. The day I heard Larian got the license, I knew I would never see a proper sequel in my life.
i dont think it was an issue with WoTC not being happy with BG1 and BG2, but its clear that not what they wanted to see from BG3
Loot system is the same, graphics look the same except newer, and a turn based system that is the same. I mean, aside from the story, that is quite a bit the same lol.
I will say so far i have enjoyed it way more than DoS or DoSII, but I am literally right at the start so that may change. The Cinematics are terrible so far though. I really hope that gets polished along the way (though not a priority aside from when it breaks save games I assume)
"Previous disapointments"
Are you perhaps joking, or are you referring to the sub par "remasters"?
Haven't gone too far into the game, but I'm starting to see some inkling of a connection to Bhaal and the prophecies. I believe the dead man in the crypt is in fact Alaundo and he is to reveal a continuation of his original prophecy. He was also buried in a crypt to Jergal, who gave Bhaal his original powers. I also recently received a Soul Coin from the tiefling with the telescope. I wonder if you'll be able to release the soul and it is revealed to be some dead soul in Avernus.... say Jon Irenicus or Sarevok (his soul would be borrowed anyway)? One can only hope, and put faith into Larian.
The bitterness you talk about is a small vocal minority of purist that still don't understand it's been 20 years since BG2 and it can't be the same IE game you played. Accept that games will be modernised or live in the fairy world is what it boils down to.
I'm not sorry, but you're wrong. Just because people have been waiting , doesn't mean it is a "Divinity game with a D&D skin". It's just made by a different company than the originals and people want to whine because they have nothing better to do. The game is it's own game, while using the mechanics and systems Larian has had success with. If you don't know how to appreciate it and are upset it didn't live up to some nonsensical expectations, then get a refund and don't ruin it for the rest of us. The negativity in Gaming these days is ludicrous. I think this game is absolutely amazing. Not to mention, it EARLY ACCESS!!!! So many changes are coming in the next year. Things being added. Tweaks being made. Literally 1 day has passed and people are up in arms over an EARLY ACCESS game, which means it is incomplete. Did you happen to read the EARLY ACCESS warning on the Store Page for the game before you bought it or were you planning on being a whiny baby no matter what?
kthxbye
It's Baldur's Gate III because that's the most profitable IP. It doesn't have anything to do with Baldur's Gate outside it being set in the Forgotten Realms, like 49 other PC games over the past 30 years.
Or maybe you missed the point that it's set around the city of Baldur's Gate about 100 years later in the timeline? Sorry It was too easy to point out the obvious.
I sincerely hope the game will improve a lot in its early access stage. What I think is missing is the overall aesthetics, lack of classes and companions, and downsized party. The game plays on a smaller scale than its original predecessors, but hopefully it means there'll be substance to it, though substance never was an issue in previous entries of the game. I think they did well with the music from what we've seen so far.
Again, sorry I'm comparing this game to its previous entries. If that's ruining it for you, you might want to be selective about the topics you participate in. I don't think I'm being negative here.
