So I said it long ago. They need to keep true to Baldurs Gate and not try to save money and leaving us with only half a game.
Actually, Baldur's Gate 1 had a level cap of 7-8, depending on your class since there was an xp cap.
EDIT: You also brought up expansions made over multiple years, and a sequel game, and are now comparing that to a single game not even completed yet.
U are aware that to reach that level cap, it spanned two games and 2 expansions right? the original baldurs gate allowed you to reach only level 7 over the course of 60-80 hours of gametime.
Aye, but that's a different version of the rules. L40 in 5e would be King of the Universe, if that level even existed in that ruleset :)
I believe they are aiming for L10-12 by the end of the game, which I hear is typical for D&D 5e campaigns.
Keep up the good work, peons!
That said, this is a specific D&D story. In tabletop campaigns, there is usually a level range that covers the whole thing, so going that route would be fine too.
Don't understand people like you. If they are beta testing the game surely that's a good thing for everyone regardless of your personal opinion if the price is worth it or not.
Also are you going to ammend this when the game releases? I doubt it.
To be clear, that is only in the Throne of Bhall expansion that you can reach the 8,000,000 xp cap. For the base game of BG2 (Shadows of Amn) the xp cap is 2,950,000 which varies from level 17 (Paladins, rangers, mages, sorcerers) to 23 (thiefs, bards).
All that said, BG3 is based on 5th edition rules and in that rules set, the max level is 20. I think (am not certain) that I read that the level cap in the full release would end up being around 17 or 18, but take that with a grain of salt.
Presumably they were thinking "hey, let's use these D&D 5e rules we paid WotC a ton for permission to make a game out of" :P
