creating larian account
I'm trying to launch the game but it keeps making me create a larian account. I've tried to do this several times and it tells me my email already exists. I then try to send that email a new password which gets me a verify email prompt. Every time I try to get a verification email it gives me an internal server error pop up.

Do I need an account to play early access? If so, how do i actually get my account to work?
Thanks for any help!

I think the account's purpose is only to sync cross saves (so if you play now on Steam and later on decide to play on Stadia or whatever you can preserve your save). As far as I've been able to see, you don't need to validate your account to play, so you can probably put in a random email and never actually use it (though of course you would't be able to use cross saves if you wanted to play on a different platform).

Once you run the game you'll be able to create an account, and I would assume you can create one on Larian's website as well.

You can skip creating an account.

Right. But every time hit play on the steam launcher it gives me a "get started" for a larian account creation and there doesn't seem to be a way to bypass it or say "no thanks, not right now." And I've tried the same steps I detailed above on their actual website and it does the same thing.
It's strange that I can't access the game without creating an account if it's only meant for cross saves.

There should be a "never ask me again" checkbox you can click, then hit skip.

Yeah, I'm not seeing the "never ask me again" checkbox

They do need to add an option to not ask again, but you can still play the game. Click the little BG3 icon in the upper left to skip having to create an account and begin playing. You will just have to do this every time you launch the game currently.

No, you don't. There is a "never ask me again" checkbox, which I used, and have not seen the question to create an account after.

Edit: Mind, I still get the launcher window, but it comes up with a simple "play" button.

It's not very apparent. I just tried it. There is no skip/don't ask again button on the first launcher page, you actually have to click "get started" first, then it will have that option in the lower right. I never clicked the "get started" button up to this point because I didn't want to create an account to begin with, so it would be a bit more intuitive and helpful if they moved the skip/don't ask again part to the starter page.

Thanks everyone for your help! I did manage to skip it. My stupid taskbar was blocking that button in the bottom right so I couldn't see or click on it.
It is not necessary to play the game. On the first screen, click "proceed", and on the next screen, in the bottom right corner, you will have the option to "skip" and just play the game.

Can be done even better.

--skip-launcher

The larian launcher never comes up again.
Cool - However, as you can see they had this figured out 5 years ago! FIVE. And with the Early Access launcher. Not the version that the game was released with.

This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
