Remove Racial Stat Caps
Just make the cap 18 for every stat. Making unconventional characters is part of the fun (Dwarf Mage anyone?)

Seems there's a stat cap for certain stats.

the cap is 15 for all stats then you add race bonuses...hope that helps

and yes it's a bit weird like a few of things in 5e was hoping for rolling for stats but no dice...:)

Oh, that's kinda disappointing. I guess it's a game balance thing though that's definitely going to limit race/class combinations.

Not really. You get two ability points to spend every four levels, so even with no racial bonuses you can max your primary attribute by level 8.

(Technically it's class levels, not character levels, but since multiclassing isn't an option yet it's a distinction without a difference.)

In D&D 5e the only hard stat (Ability Score) cap on a PC is 20 -- regardless of race -- though some classes (like Barbarian), spell buffs or magic items may allow you to exceed this. If you are talking about during character creation the Point Buy system has a cap of 15 but some races have bonuses to specific Ability Scores. Also, in D&D 5e, characters can raise their Ability Scores every time their class gains an Ability Score Improvement (ASI); it is not always every 4 levels and dependent on class level, not character level.
