5-7 FPS with GTX1070 gaming laptop
I saw that others had fps problems, but does 5-7 FPS with medium and low settings running 1080p realistic? I have an ASUS gaming laptop with i7- 7700HQ, GTX1070, 16GB RAM, all SSD, not a rocket but still have no problems with most of the games.

I guess I just need to wait for the new NVIDIA dedicated driver + BG3 patch, but I do wonder if I am alone with this.

I’m running a gtx1070 with 16gb ram 4770k SSD and getting an average of 25fps, sometime dip below 10fps but the game auto detect graphics option as Ultra, changing serting does not affect the fps.

Could the game be picking up your Intel graphics rather than the 1070?

try switching in the launcher from vulkan to the other setting. Vulkan has been having a lot of issues with higher end Nvidia cards ironically.

Thanks for the reply, that might be the case, but do you know how can I check this? I don't see anything regarding to that in video settings

Thank you, I tried DX11, instant crash :). Also tweaking the nvidia control panel, disabling game mode, recording, game bar in Win10, the usual stuff.

Insta crash is not normal when changing to dx11 with your config. You can contact support here.

Thank you, I did just that.

Well hotfix 3 just doubled my FPS to 15 :). DX11 still does not work but it is no longer crashing(just doing nothing when I click).
With the rate Larian is pushing fixes, I am sure the FPS issue will be fixed in days. Amazing :)

Go to desktop, right-click, nvidia control panel. Make a profile for BG3 and force it to use your GPU.

Nvidia Control Panel > Manage 3D Settings > Program Settings then add BG3 and under #2 make sure it's using your GPU.

I'm running high settings on an old i7, 16 gig ram, 970 and getting 30 everywhere outside of Blight Village (which is just a killer)

It's EA, it's not optimised (Blight Village seems to want to load everything even if you can't see it) but it's playable for me.

Thanks for the tip, however I cannot select my GPU in the Nvidia Control Panel (I can select something for OpenGL rendering and I tried that, but did not help obviously).
This is an ASUS gaming laptop (GL502VS), the GPU is integrated and it does not have any Intel based GPU, I suspect it was not implemented as this is a custom hardware.
And this is exactly the problem here, the drivers for this rig are probably a bit different from a modular desktop or even newer gaming laptops.

I am sure Larian will get there, but the 10 ppl who still have this rig are probably not a priority :).

I have the same performance on both vulkan and dx11.

Specs are GTX 1060, I5 6500, 16GB ram

at 1080p, my fps is all over the place. Sometimes I get 50-60 then in certain areas my fps drops to 20fps or below. Changing graphics setting does almost nothing. Game is fun but the performance is making it tougher to enjoy.

I'm using a 1070 and I seem to get around 49 FPS. I've not tested it using direct X yet

Not sure if the devs are reading posts but this issue still exists after patch 1... I still get instant crash with DX11 and now back to 7-8 FPS with Vulcan with a GTX1070... I get that there are tons of bugs to iron out, but any chance to give this a priority? I would assume instant crash and totally unplayable would be higher priority than my sword is glitching? I can't even play the game to discover any bugs with 7-8 FPS.
