Yes i know. Did you see the video where the devs said we can avoid it or have animal handling option? Im wondering about that.
umm, there is a video where the devs use that skills to study them/avoid them.
Then maybe you have to use it before approaching them? I don't know, I just know what's in the rulebook for 5e.
Yeah i tried it. Doh. Could be that its still Early access it wont let me
Do you have the Speak With Animals spell active, or just in your spell list? Because you need to cast it before it works. The spell's effects last until a long rest.
And yes, Speak With Animals does work on the Owlbear.
Ahhhh i thought it was automatic. Thanks!
you do have to indeed cast animal speaking before getting close, that first encounter i went threw every dialogue option to try to get the owlbear cub and its not possible in the first encounter you get the cub later. animal speaking also requires concentration so if you get hit in combat it breaks most of the time.
i would assume they might add some way to bond with animals in your camp - in the full release if i can manage to summon a owlbear by having him in my camp and keeping im happy its going to be a instant 10/10
I have encountered it, and Speak With Animals does work.
It's probably a simplification for the adaptation because they don't expect players to have to use all their spell slots for "Speak With Animals", "Speak with Beasts", "Speak with Abberations", "Speak with Monstrosities", "Speak with Undead", etc.
