Monster Hunter Gandrel

Is he important for a quest or is he just standing around? i did not have any useful options to interact. did i miss something?

if you talk to him with Asterion in the party, a rather humorous exchange occurs if you allow Asterion to steer the conversation. If he is not in your party, when you camp and talk to Asterion, you can tell him there is a monster hunter looking for him - and open up some back ground information concerning his past

ok - with that being said, I absolutely laughed at the subtle Witcher overtones of Gandrel, and monster hunters in general.

i always kill astarion right at his spawn point so the vampire hunter was always just standing there useless.

it feels out of place too - if you try to kill him it takes a lot of shots before he gets even mad ;)

Astarion is terribly designed. stealing someone's blood during his sleep is pretty much R-word - no way i'll pretend its fine.

@Naginata Its sounds like a bug. Even if you don't have Astarion with you when you meet him, he should still tell you what he's doing.

He generally IS bugged. I wanted to kill him so I attacked him and he ran away. I chased him across the map and back again before I manage to kill him. Like a literal 10 minute chase.

Posting here because it's relevant. I'm not sure if I did something strange or not. Took Ast with me, talked to the hunter, he attacked and I KO'd the hunter in the fight. When you then talk to Ast, he treats it as if you just walked away (minus the disapproval). Can anybody tell me if Gandrel turns up again or if he can be safely killed? I'd dislike another fight where he is an additional opponent.

i was with astarion. i had conversation. said too bad hes not a real vampire in response to the hunters response. Astarion then says something funny. then i say well Astarion....... ........ and the hunters like.....what? this is Astarion. and then i let Astarion initiate a fight and we kill him. you will get Astarion approval if done this way. and the whole interaction is pretty funny.

I offered Astarian to him while he was in my party. He acted shocked. But a fight ensued. Needless to say I killed the hunter. Would have been better is the hunter would have dragged Astarian off bound and gagged.

Yeah, the options you get afaik are: Walk away (Asterion is annoyed) or fight (Asterion is pleased). I have a soft spot for him as my D&D character was named the same (tho different class). But as I said, I found a way to fight (please Asterion) AND not kill the hunter for doing his job; which is to get him down to low HP and KO him. Asterion counts this as not killing him and if you speak to him about being hunted he treats it as if you walked away (and hopes the hunter dies). If you kill the hunter, Asterion is happy but states more will come.

This has to be the most ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ craziest thing i've ever read, let alone anytning in a gaming forum. You're saying vampire are rapists and that's not ok? The mythical vampires (that don't really exist) kill people bud, they are murders as well. How does that make you feel now snowflake? Please take your liberal insanity elsewhere, bud.

Nah, he's got a point. That pretty much is still a violation of the private body of another sentient being, pretty damn close to rape. It's sick no matter how you look at it, objectively speaking, and does bear more similarities to rape than you seem to care to admit.

Yeah, I agree. Literally sneaking up to a sleeping person to penetrate them against their will is automatic stake for Astarion, If nothing else, it protects my other party members from the same fate. There is a lot I will overlook in order to rid myself of the tadpole, Shadowhearts shar worship, Gales timebomb, Wyll's fiend pact, La'Zeals xenophobia - but I absolutely draw the line when it comes to something like this. Even playing an evil playthrough, I stake him - it's self preservation.
